Cade Metz, the Register journalist berated by Wikipedians at the end of this piece, writes a semi-response in this article - published Dec 18 2007:

A Wonderful article and truly a tribute to the great efforts of WikipediaReview.com and the staff, therein. At this time; following the sleuthing and unconscionable happenings at Wikipedia, Google (Goog) the most powerful net company on earth has surfaced to compete in the field of knowledge sourcing, with their "Knol" subscription and ad-revenue based project. I have said many times that Wikipedia must either merge or be acquired by one of the large capital structures fully capable of integrating same into a well diversified media empire. Google is a wonderful company and has the platform in place to do what it takes to protect information from vandals and "kids" that want to change the truth, at will. Add to that a financial incentive for scholars and educators to become involved, and it is more than likely to be spot on competition. WP needs Google hits, albeit the reverse of that thesis is not likely to be true.
