Gee, yet another blog post railing against Wikipedia in this case, made without reference to and in ignorance of any of the relevant facts!

I've followed a trail of links through different bloggers who all jump on the chance to berate the Wikipedia editors, not one of whom had any real information about what happened.

Here is what happened: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Myrzakulov_equations_(2nd_nomination)

This was not a case of non-experts overriding expert opinion. It was a matter where two different experts disagreed, and the Wikipedia editors made a decision based on reference counting.

Apparently you would rather have them delete pages just because somebody posts saying "I'm an expert, and I think you should delete this."

Everyone should buy Brittanica, or something like it, for their families and just forget about the Wikipedia.

But this was a well-written, righteous rant, full of truth.

Can't understand why anyone bothers consulting the Wikipedia anymore.

For anything.

The "element of chaos" is driven in part by the lunatic social drama that inevitably ensues in dysfunctional communities (like Wikipedia) which lack a functional social contract.
