Sceptre,

In July of last year after I became an admin, I took steps in an attempt to
"infiltrate" Encyclopedia Dramatica (as a double agent of sorts) to see what
I could do to to mitigate the systemic vandalism originating from that site.
I was active from July 14 to August 5, 2008 making 18 edits.

(Click links to ED at your own risk!)

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Special:Contributions/Apathetic

My first couple edits were regarding you, to change the words "SO cash" to
"SO featured" (you are a FA writer, I felt it appropriate).

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=Sceptre&diff=prev&oldid=1997653846
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=So_cash&diff=prev&oldid=1997653848

I also later made reference to a WR thread/WP incident you were involved in
in a later talk page thread:

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Warm%2C_Sticky_Cum_Fountain&diff=prev&oldid=1997689817

Quoting:
:nothing lulzworthy? Sceptre has been up to bullshit as well. See [
http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=19663], [
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Sceptre#Civility]. [[Sceptre|Pls
insert moar lulz.]] Apathetic 13:33, 5 August 2008 (CDT)

I'm not going to lie: these were not /entirely/ motivated out of a desire to
infiltrate ED; but also, in some small respect, "for the lulz".

Please forgive the above juvenilism. If you're wondering why I am telling
you this now, it is because I have, earlier today, identified on WR where I
also use the name Apathetic. I should also note I was the one who started
the WR thread referenced above.

For the record the en.wiki Apathetic is not me.

I am happy to answer any follow-up questions you may have. In the interests
of WP:DENYing recognition to ED, I would prefer to keep this off-wiki;
but if you feel that it should be reported somewhere, you have my permission
in advance to reproduce this email on-wiki.

Best regards,

-xeno

To the committee,

I recently disclosed to three editors that I had made edits to their
biographies at ED. I understand one of them has sent you a copy of the
email. In the interests of full disclosure, I also submit the below email
(forwarded verbatim) for your review, being the most detailed of the three.

Please use the below as necessary, with my permission to reproduce it
on-wiki if that is what the committee deems appropriate. I only ask that you
extend the same privacy protection that I requested of Raul, that the
paragraph including reference to my IP address [beginning* "I did make some
edits as an IP"* and ending "*(See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/216.234.58.18)*"] be
excluded. These IP edits were made before I considered myself a true
contributor here, I only submit them for transparency alongside the
statement that I have not done anything untoward on en.wiki. For the record,
the en.wiki Apathetic is not me.

Also note that I have not edited ED subsequent to the Aug 5, 2008 edit.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. I am happy to answer
any follow-up questions the committee may have.

Respectfully,

-xeno

Raul,

My first couple edits were regarding Sceptre, to change the words "SO cash"
to "SO featured" (he is a FA writer, I felt it appropriate).

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=Sceptre&diff=prev&oldid=1997653846
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=So_cash&diff=prev&oldid=1997653848

I also later made reference to a WR thread/WP incident Sceptre was involved
in in a later talk page thread:

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Warm%2C_Sticky_Cum_Fountain&diff=prev&oldid=1997689817

On July 31, 2008 during an ANI thread ("Large amount of Rangeblocks by
Raul654") in which I disagreed with your rangeblocks, I asked at ED that
they "Plz extract lulz" from the same.

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=Talk:Bureaucratic_Fuck&diff=prev&oldid=1997684642
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=User_talk:Warm%2C_Sticky_Cum_Fountain&diff=prev&oldid=1997684657

On August 1, 2008, after the Bedford controvery, I added to his entry
"Bedford claims to be [
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Bedford/userboxes/User_Bachelor proud to
be a bachelor,] but he probably doesn't really have a choice in the matter
as heis approaching 40-year old virgin status." [sic]

http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=Bedford&diff=prev&oldid=1997685717

I also made a few edits that did not reference specific Wikipedia users
(except, tangentially, NawlinWiki). Any double agent who wishes to be
successful must necessarily walk on the wrong side of the law in order to
establish their cover.

Disparaging the vandal who identifies as "Hagger" (Grawp-wannabe):
http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php?title=Hagger&diff=prev&oldid=1997673396++"]]

especially not these fuckers."

Suggesting someone start using "WEASLEYYYYYYYYYYYY??????????" for edit
summary vandalism:

Informing them that rollback functionality was down at the time (it was
temporary, and AFAIK, no disruption resulted from my tip):

For the record, I gave up with the realization it was an exercise in
futility as well as no longer wanting to continue "bad hand" actions on a
WP:BADSITE (and because I knew I was opening myself up to potential
malware). I'm not going to lie: some of these edits were not /entirely/
motivated out of a desire to build a cover and infiltrate ED; but also, in
some small respect, "for the lulz".

Please forgive the above juvenilism. If you're wondering why I am disclosing
this now, it is because I have, earlier today, identified on WR where I also
use the name Apathetic.

I would also invite you, if you feel it necessary, to run a checkuser to
verify that I have not engaged in any abusive/bad-hand sockpuppetry on
en.wiki (or any Wikimedia projects, for that matter). This email disclosure
may also be used, as necessary and appropriate, in your regular duties as a
functionary. For the record, the en.wiki Apathetic is not me.

I did make some edits as an IP during my inactive period between 2006 and
2008 including a heated debate at Talk:The Orange Box but I wouldn't
consider myself a "true contributor" prior to January 2008 when I truly fell
in love with contributing here. (See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/216.234.58.18)

I am happy to answer any follow-up questions you may have. In the interests
of WP:DENYing recognition to ED, I would prefer to keep this off-wiki;
but if you feel that it should be reported somewhere, you have my permission
in advance to reproduce this email on-wiki without the immediately preceding
paragraph about my IP contributions (due to the privacy concerns).

I have sent much less detailed versions of this email to Sceptre and Bedford
addressing the edits I made wrt them specifically.

Best regards,

-xeno

I think we're hitting the law of diminishing returns here; this is muck-raking for the sake of it, and TBH, I don't see any muck. Sceptre and Bedford are largely gone, as far as WP is concerned, and this didn't result in any ArbCom action (correct me if I'm wrong); so this "revelation" appears to me to be supremely pointless. Forgive me if I think that the bottom of this particular barrel has been scraped beyond the patience of its intended audience.

Xeno got bored and started trolling Wikipedia on ED. He then tries to excuse his behavior with hilarious rationalizations like

QUOTE
Any double agent who wishes to be
successful must necessarily walk on the wrong side of the law in order to
establish their cover.

I agree there's nothing earth-shattering here, but this is a useful little nugget to keep at the back of my mind in case Xeno ever tries to go on a hypocritical BADSITES crusade.

There was probably nothing interesting there.
