User: Ridinhood25 wandered into the ANI discussion and put his two cents in about JzG, needless to say it didn't go down well and the sockpuppet accusations began to surface.

Then the noble and virtuous admin Gadfium stepped in and did battle with this evildoer, banishing him from the holy empire and reported back with the news.

Jeez, even I could tell (using Slimmy's patented Linguistic Skilz on loan) that Ridinhood is Onomato. Netiher of which is me, which an RFCU (yes, my WP corpse is still rotting in a <30 day old grave) would confirm.

Even samiharris can figure out that Ridinghood is onomato. Probably licensing slimmy's patent too. She must be a rich gal by now.

But who is Dozen13? Hmmm. They didn't get around to banning that one yet. Maybe they'll actually run a checkuser, or did Jayjg take the keys with him before fleeing the wikicountry?

I think that what he wrote was borderline "outing" of real life information, and per their rules may be sufficient to block him on regardless of whether he is a sock puppet.

Furthermore, note that they have subsequently added this:

Ergo, he is not a sock puppet, but he does have sock puppets himself.

Either way, this is a good example of the method that is used so frequently on Wikipedia. "I disagree with you, therefore you must be abusing sock puppets". Its just odd that in this case they're only disagreeing with 1 person yet making the sock puppet accusations already. Usually they only do it when its 2 or more people they disagree with.

However, overall, I think its a bad thing to do. The guy did nothing more than to comment on an admin noticeboard note about what to do about JzG leaving. What he said was overall pretty positive. Why is he not entitled to his own opinion? That seems wrong, really wrong.

But just the same it is pretty typical of what goes on.

Any utter greenhorn can score a true sock accusation, so you only get one point for that — but a takes a certain knack to pick up a false sock accusation, which is why you get 10 points for that.

And some of you even act like you have gotten the funny notion into your heads that the game afoot is to hide your socks — now what possible fun could there be in that?

And please don't tell me you haven't heard about the Wikipediot Open Secret Prime Directive, to wit, or not, WP:HONEYFLASH!!!, that lets you change your identity as many times as you want to in a day.

Really, ya gotta start paying attention if you wannabe a hyperdude in this game.
