IRC and Wikipedia are by de jure separate entities. Problems with IRC should not extend to Wikipedia. The IRC bouncers can just ban him if they wish or, as suggested on wiki, the IRC people can ignore him. Perhaps someone on Wikipedia would like to remind RyanGerbil of this? dry.gif

(Yes, Giano, I'm preaching to the choir. unhappy.gif )

Edit: I notice that no one has alerted Kurt to the AN discussion. Shame, Wikipedia! Shame! angry.gif

Kurt deserves to be banned from IRC, but that's because he's openly disruptive there. However, I've never seen any need to ban him from Wikipedia. He shouldn't hold any role of authority there, but his own conduct seems more than sufficient to prevent that.

IRC is very handy for spotting the real douchebags - I remember when Spectre was banned for vandalism on kurt's pages. You really got to see the two faces of the guy. It broadly went like this:

Wikipedia: I'm really sorry

IRC: I'm not sorry, Kurt can fuck off.

and so on...

You were banned from the entire Wikipedia namespace. Short memory?

Excuse me?

Always the stunned indignation, eh?

I hope you won't be continuing to claim that the community supports you after this is mercifully over.

For the record, I agree with rspeer and I'm thankful that I have never used IRC.

This was a good idea. I hope someone proposes another ban after the election: hopefully then people will have run out excuses to let him continue trolling everyone.

No, I wasn't--as evidenced by the fact that no one's had a problem with my participating in the AC election (which takes place in the project namespace) and in fact at least one involved person has come out and said it's fine.

I agreed to stop participating in some of the more contentious areas for awhile, is all.

Why not? They obviously do, as evidenced by the fact that the nine who have supported me are but a mere fraction of my legions of followers, who at this point are too scared to speak up.

I need to continue what I've been doing--I've been able to convince nine people to speak up so far; if I keep on with my bold leadership that number will increase.

Why?

What have I done differently (for the worse) since the last time someone tried to pull a stunt like that a couple of months ago, which failed miserably?

Read the vote page. Plenty of people have a problem with your participation.

You've continued to edit, albeit semi-actively. That's what's bad. Your mere existence on Wikipedia.

The best part of this thread is that the two users on Kurt the Troll's back are Alex and Sceptre. It's like the effing epitome of hypocrisy and irony rolled into a big ball of lulz and fail.

The ArbCom elections are exempt from any parole. I think it's one of the Everyking decisions.
