User:Law seems to have left, based on tiny hints like a massive fuck-off banner reading "RETIRED" on his userpage. No idea why - from the looks on the talkpage, none of the regular Wikipedia users know either.

Unfortunately for many people, Wikipedia is very much the Hotel California. You can enter, but you can never leave!. Because of that, people here and on Wikipedia tend to be cynical of Wikipedia goodbyes. You pretty much have to be banned and your IP range blocked for an eternity to truly leave Wikipedia. You may have noticed that in RL there is something of a recession.

Lawyers are employed lots in boom times, where the expenditure on them is worth the value they bring in; busy and rich companies will throw money at litigants to make them go away. Lots of liquidity in the market place allows people to gamble on trying to grab what others are too foolish to lock up. When things go bad nobody wants to spend money on trying to squeeze a bit of cash out of a company that is going belly up. Those foolish with their cash are now holding a whole pile of empty.

There are a lot of lawyers with quite a bit of time on their hands, at the moment. Accountants are busy whether or not the economy is doing good or bad - but something like WP provides them with all the safe "risk" that breaks the ennui of their lives...

Doctors are fab. If there are any on WP, it is because they are brilliant and want to share.
