This elaborate hoax was set up with several articles created by User:Womblethereof.

It was mentioned at the Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard yesterday and all the articles have been deleted.

His 238 twitter followers and the folks at the Huffington Post (where he wrote an editorial that received 130 comments) have yet to catch on though.

How whimsical; in January 2010, the scion of a heretofore unknown line of Rothchilds emerged and started blogging at Huffington Post.

He's also blogged there as Stefan Roberts and was once known as His Excellency Lord Stefan Roberts of Jersey. I tried to point this out as a comment there, but I fear it will forever be "awaiting moderation". Maybe valleywag would enjoy getting a dig in at Huff.

A friend of mine is a nurse who practices in and around Lagny. The Rothchild family had a very well-known chateau in Ferrières, which is within her practice. One of the main Rothchild brothers of the French branch lives in a house within the park of this chateau.

She knows these people. She has seen their asses, as she's given them multiple shots for various things.

Just forget about the Rothchilds and everything people say about them. They have to pull down their pants to get a shot like the rest of us!

I hate to tell you this, but the average person doesn't have to pull down their pants to get a shot of anything. Unless it's a monster dose of long-acting penicillin to cure your syphilis because nobody trusts you to take pills every day.

Or maybe some nasty oil-based thing like testosterone, but not too many other things. Perhaps the Rothschild men are all doping/juicing a bit, in the name of preventive geriatrics.

Or maybe the French just like to give bum shots. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/wink.gif) "Nurse, please come to my chateau this afternoon. I'll be needing my usual butt-load of vitamins...."

Not so sure about that. I visited Earsnoses'n'throats-R-Us back in August on account of I had "acute bacterial otitis media" i.e. some kind of ear infection. For $160 they gave me a shot in the ass and pills to take every day (actually every 8 hours), but they seemed to work.

And probably would have worked just as well without the shot in the ass. But you'll never know, as they obviously considered it an ENT emergency, not worthy of the "let's wait and see" treatment on pills alone.

I have to admit you do remind me of one other ass-shot thingy, though, which is that there does exist a category of antibiotic called a "late generation cephalosporin," which is too large and thick a shot to be given IM easily any place else other than a glute, and which isn't well absorbed in a pill. So conceivably, you could have gotten one of those (ceftriaxone or cefepime or cefa-something-else). Not that there's a great deal of evidence that they're better than one of the many, many oral combos available for a middle ear infection, especially an untreated one.

Somehow I doubt that Rothschilds get regular third of fourth generation cephalosporin shots, either. But I suppose there are some circumstances where they could be used instead of an IV.

This is too damn bizarre.

Why in hell would anyone, sane or insane, do all this?
(Don't answer that. Nevermind. It's Wikipedia.)

And what really amuses me: the photo in that TED profile
bears a remarkable resemblance to my friend John Atwood.........

Hmm, that could be what it was. I tried to ask what was in the shot but by then they were more interested in shooing me out the door. I do know the pills were amoxicillin. Doubtless I could have picked that up without a prescription by describing a fictitious pet (o por hablando un poquito de español, al supermercado local del barrio), if only I knew what the hell I'd be shopping for.

It's a local joke that this friend has seen the ass of everybody in town. I've never thought to confirm whether it's true or not.

My point was that these Rothchild people are normal folks, who live in a normal house and do normal things. I've even run into them at the Supermarket, myself. So whenever I hear one of these "Rothchild conspiracy" thingees, I think of the nice lady I run into at the produce section and wonder how these things start...

Honestly some people here know nothing. Not even how to spell Rothschild. Of course they dont have to pull down their pants to get a shot like the rest of us. They have valets or if they wish chambermaids to do it for them.

Here for example is a typical French maid on Commons; note how she wears a very short dress, seamed stockings and stilettos to do manual labour.

Well, I've never had to actually spell their name. I just run into them at the grocery store.

Of course, all maids in France wear those types of outfits to scrub toilets and the like. You wouldn't believe how much it costs to keep 'em in pantyhose!

(IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif) Most Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas have amoxicillin over-the-counter. You don't need to describe anything-- just ask for the stuff.

Amoxicillin is a very "old" and cheap drug, with so many bacteria resistant to it by now that it's used as a placebo (mostly for mothers with kids who have earaches, which usually do start to go away about 24 hours after they hurt maximally, even if you do nothing). A much more likely-to-be effective oral drug is a combo of amoxicillin and an inhibitor of penicillinase, called amoxicillin-clavulinate. It is called Clavamox or generic Augmentin in the US; probably Clavamox or something like it in Mexico, too. It used to be expensive, but now that it's generic, it has come down to reasonable prices also. It's very funny that you got the weak verson if it, while getting a shot, too.

So now you've really got me wondering what the shot was. There's a shot version of Clavamox called Unisyn, but it's very expensive, and reconsituting a whole IV bottle of it for an IM dose for one patient (wasting the rest, which is meant to be used in a much larger IV dose) reminds me of the old joke about the guy who wants elephant ear sandwich, at the restaurant-that-has-anything. They tell him the problem is not the order, but the problem is that it's late, and cooks don't want to start on a fresh elephant. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/happy.gif) So I really doubt they did that for you-- not for $160. And pointless anyway, as it only saves you a couple of hours in getting the antibiotic and hurts like hell.

Cheap oral pills suggest a cheap antibiotic shot. Penicillin G?? (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/hmmm.gif) (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/ohmy.gif) Gads, what a crappy clinic. Don't go back!

And he's been doing it since 2005..

The 2008 version of The Stefan Roberts biography lasted for 73 days before deletion, and was created shortly before he started blogging on the Huffington Post. Likewise, the Stefan de Rothschild article was created shortly before he switched to blogging under that name. He's using WP and his cheap websites to give the appearance of credibility to use on HuffPo. It's one of, if not the most visited and linked to blogs, so he's probably doing it because he wants to be read.

Fuzzybuddy (T-C-L-K-R-D) wasn't blocker either. That's the account that created the 2008 article, along with Roberts Investments Group and Andrew Roberts (businessman).

Fuzzybuddy (T-C-L-K-R-D) wasn't blocker either. That's the account that created the 2008 article, along with Roberts Investments Group and Andrew Roberts (businessman).

The snide deletion discussion is very funny, as it all looks a lot like the Lee Dennison one. The whole Roberts group with their imaginary titles and businesses looks like a giant walled-garden. Why, it must be the dread pirate Roberts! Nobody has actually SEEN him, but he has an amazing rep!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Art...s_(businessman)

Note our buddy Fuzzybuddy (T-C-L-K-R-D) is right in the middle there, "agreeing" that the articles he'd created weren't based on reliable sources, so should be deleted. Yessiree. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/rolleyes.gif) That agreement made him look more innocent and saved him from being deleted as a disruptive false-BLP maker himself. But he's pretty clearly the screen-name of a personna-creator, and if it were up to me, I'd banhammer him just for stupidity if nothing else.

To a "champagned-fuel New Year's party", from the sounds of it :

So I started the new decade all excited about, well, everything. From the champagne-fueled party on New Year's Eve to that ecstatic countdown up to midnight (this year, with BBC Radio 1 being patched in through the house's sound system so that we could hear Big Ben chime 12), and that oh-so-special kiss to start off 2010!

Actually, even if this isn't even remotely believable, it's really a shame that this guy is a fake...since his position about arts funding makes perfect sense...However, I wonder just how much of the money he was obviously fishing for with these websites would have actually gone to working artists?

Has anybody tipped off the Huffington post about this guy?

Here for example is a typical French maid on Commons; note how she wears a very short dress, seamed stockings and stilettos to do manual labour.

Hm, danger of having admins following our discussions. All I do is link to a nice photo on Commons and look what happens. Grab a copy while you can.

The Wikipedia Review effect strikes again...

Well, it's in use in the French WP, oddly enough, although I don't see what it has to do with the article...

The Spanish WP seems to understand the concept of "French Maid" better than the French do...

I replied to his latest article but it's been waiting moderation since Friday. I also emailed scoop at huffingtonpost.com, but there's been no reply.

No, I meant how did Pikelet04 (T-C-L-K-R-D) get off WP? Are you sure you have the name right? You say he wasn't blocked, but he doesn't have a userpage. Not even one with a "banned editor" tag.

Yes, I have the name correct. The account made its edits in 2005 and 2006 and never created a user or user talk page. All of the edits were subsequently deleted (Special:DeletedContributions/Pikelet04) and nobody ever bothered creating a user or user talk page or blocking the account. Sounds like a typical "single-purpose throwaway account" to me.

I was talking to some French friends tonight about this, and the general consensus (there's that word again...) is that there is no way in Hell that the Rothschilds' would ever name any of their kids either Stefan or Andrew. He might as well have chosen Kevin or Dylan. It's really a huge tipoff that this is a hoax, at least to French people...

How about this guy, born in 1949? Of course, he appears Swedish.

Sweden is another country. They do things differently there.

Anyway is there any reason to assume hes related to the French Rothschilds? I know they have relations in England but why would they want to have Swedish ones?

This guy is Stefan Rothschild. The other guy is Stefan de Rothschild.

The de changes everything. It's not even the same name, really...
