So a "new" editor pops up and... surprise, happens to be a decent writer. Actually contributing content.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Adm...for_Jill_Kenton So what's the problem? Well, for one thing they were called out with some pretty good evidence but still lied about who they were. Also they're being accused of socking (not sure if I believe that or not). So, what say you? If a sock, then whose sock? And will Wikipedia ever come up with a progressive policy towards paid editors? |

So, what say you? If a sock, then whose sock? It's not someone we're familiar with on WR, so we'll probably never find out. Nobody connected with this site would have used nearly 30 separate revisions to "polish" that article - anybody here would have known that you have to do it in one revision, two at the most. If "LarEvee" had done that, nobody would have noticed a thing, and he'd be free and clear. QUOTE And will Wikipedia ever come up with a progressive policy towards paid editors? No. |

So a "new" editor pops up and... surprise, happens to be a decent writer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Adm...for_Jill_Kenton That may be so, but I was amused with his What? Me?-style post in that thread in which he denies everything and attempts to "dumb down" his writing style a bit for some added innocence. (I have never been called to the Administration Noticeboard bevfore. I seemed to have stepped into a hornets nest when decided to help on this biography). Very droll. QUOTE Also they're being accused of socking (not sure if I believe that or not). So, what say you? If a sock, then whose sock? In his Elance page he claims that he's had years of experience and made "tens of thousands of edits" but his Wiki LarEvee (T-C-L-K-R-D) identity is less than a year old and he's made <500 edits. So he's either being economical with the truth in that regard or he's a sock of some other Wiki longtimer. Whoever he is, he's made an arse of himself in all this. He just didn't think any of it through properly. What an amateur. I only hope his IP-strategy skills are better than his excuses. QUOTE And will Wikipedia ever come up with a progressive policy towards paid editors? Bidding wars would be an interesting addition to the dramafests. Paid editors locked in mortal combat over behind-the-scenes monetary undercutting, reputation annihilations and guerrilla reverts via sock armies. I like it. |
