Do you want me to clean out my sock drawer?

IPs, accounts, everything as much as I can remember and reconstruct. I can't promise everything because I don't have a list hand, but I can reconstruct almost all of it.

I'll post a list if and only if I receive ten or more "Yes" responses in the poll. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif)

Hey, if I had to disclose 'em all in order to win the favor of about half the Arb Com (even if that favor lasted only a couple of months), you should too!

What's in it for you, though?

It doesn't look like the poll's heading that way, but what if you got 10 yes and say 15 nos? You'd be obliged to post the list, yet you'd know that a majority of people didn't want you to?

A majority of people don't believe in civil rights for minorities.

A majority of people don't believe in remorse, forgiveness, or redemption.

A majority of people had no use for Socrates, Beckett, Galileo, or Darwin.

There are times when I am proud to be in the minority, even if I am a loathsome minority of one.

No, don't.

What a waste.

Hand them over to be recycled by someone else.

I mean, it would be good to break one's addiction ... but think of others would you?

Eh, why do you have to be sooooooooo negative? You could try to get Shalom to halt with a little love. Try this:

"Shalom, take a hint from Diana, Mary and Flo..."

QUOTE(CharlotteWebb @ Sun 1st August 2010, 8:37am) *

Lol. The face is mine - from my Wikipedia userpage of 2007-08, and elsewhere - but the rest of the photo is not me IIRC.

I prefer to do this in installments because my purpose - as MZMcBride expressed in frustration - is to maximize trolling impact.

There are two stages in my wiki-career for this discursion: (1) November 2005 through July 2008, and (2) August 2008 through February 2010. I relocated in August 2008 and again in February 2010.

I did not edit before November 2005 nor after February 2010.

In period (1) I used the following accounts:

Shalom Yechiel (T-C-L-K-R-D) formerly known as YechielMan, then Shalom. My main account during this period.
Placeholder account (T-C-L-K-R-D) I edited from this account during a two week period when I claimed to be on wikibreak from Shalom. I was addicted to Wikipedia during this time.
SlimVirgil (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Buuuurrrrrrrr (T-C-L-K-R-D) - I did not create the account, but I hacked the password which the account creator put on his userpage.
Oommpapa (T-C-L-K-R-D)
MER-SEE (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Minorly (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Dodo Gogo (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Molag's Ball (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Kivel (T-C-L-K-R-D) - Deleted userpage (the "Innocence WikiProject") in April 2008. Revived as a sleeper in 2009.
Gym bow Whales (T-C-L-K-R-D) - no edits, forgot password. I still hope it gets blocked and that someone on Wikipedia argues against the block. Extra points if it goes to ANI.

Note that some IP addresses are shared university computers for which I made only some of the edits.

129.98.212.170 (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Jon and Barry - why is this boring?

Don't you want to know all the stunts I've pulled on Wikipedia? Don't you want a chance to induct me into the sockpuppeteers hall of fame?

You need to do the digging to find the most "interesting" edits.

The few I bothered to sample were pretty lame 1-off-ers — is that all you got?

If you had any live ones left, the sock de gras would be to fork them over as PACMAN accounts.

I don't have any sleepers. Everything is either blocked or if not blocked, has its userpage redirected to my most recent alias, Chutznik (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Except for "Gym bow Whales" which has no edits and I forgot the password.

I had some much more interesting socking activities starting in August 2008. Stay tuned, it will get better.

Why do you even bother to register named accounts? The WMF Policy expressly states that you don't have to be registered to post. Depending on where you live, you probably have a pool of IP addresses that span the metro area where you live. And you can edit from an IPv6 address, too.

What are they gonna do, block the entire third world to keep you out?

I created named accounts for many reasons. For example, only named accounts can edit through semiprotection. Also, named accounts keep contribution logs together even though the edits were made in different places.

By the way, Barry, you and I live in the same metropolitan area.

No I don't. I know why they opposed me at RFA. I've discussed it with Iridescent, and we've reached a stage of mutual understanding. But I still say, not only to her but to many others, that it's fine to oppose me for what I did, but not for what I didn't do. I still believe that my RFA in July 2008 was one of the all-time character assassinations Wikipedia has ever seen. I saw many false statements about me from many different individuals.

I intended to start over as "Buki ben Yogli" and become an admin under a "clean start." Then I forgot the password so I started a new account, "Storkynoob". Then I received a new password by email to bukibenyogli@gmail.com (bring on the spambots, I don't care). By then I had already started to slide down the proverbial slippery slope.

A month later, Sam Korn bangs the hammer

Buki ben Yogli (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Storkynoob (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Wow Caninaro (T-C-L-K-R-D)
La vite crab (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Tornado Shark (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Bone killing ox (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Bone crunching cow (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Extra points if you can state the connection between Wow Caninaro, La vite crab, and Tornado Shark.

Crystal whacker (T-C-L-K-R-D) survived the sting. I edited from "Crystal whacker" from a school IP address accessible to thousands of students, and Sam could not be certain that it was I. The other accounts (possibly except for Storkynoob) edited from my home.

My IP addresses were:

24.186.165.121 (T-C-L-K-R-D)
129.49.7.125 (T-C-L-K-R-D)
129.49.51.50 (T-C-L-K-R-D)

There are some juicy block logs to admire. I'll have more later.

Anti-anxiety medications have their drawbacks. I agree he's obsessed, and it's alarming. Imagine if there were an entire web forum obsessed with the antics of a website.

It could be populated by some real strange characters. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/fear.gif)

I certainly don't recommend medication unless absolutely necessary and ordered by a medical doctor. It has helped me. I no longer think everyone's out to get me. I know now that SOME people are out to get me! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/fear.gif)

I should know better than to provide medical advice, even in jest. I believe Somey suggested to someone on here once to go cut their head off and... well... we can't suggest that anymore. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/dry.gif) (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/unhappy.gif)

Nice name!!!

Yes, I once attempted an unbanning on the ground that the account name was too good to lose but the humorless twats just could see the value in that.

I suppose we could just go on the rampaging to use up as many good of the good names as possible leaving impossible to remember telephone number or encryption key style monickers ...

When I cannot think of who to be, I often just use the Wikipedia's own password generator which, sometimes, is surprising perspicacious. This is genuine and worthy enough of a screenshot, I thought.

I still think this is all a terrible waste of resources shalom and so if you have any good unblocked and untraceable ones, let us know off forum.

in 2006, they voted the girl from Elfen Lied the "cutest anime girl of the year".
And whoever runs the site admitted to never having seen Elfen Lied.
(FYI, the girl in Elfen Lied had telekinetic powers, and used them---to tear people's heads and limbs off.
I've got a copy on DVD. It is easily one of the most disturbing, fucked-up cartoons ever made.)

My next sockpuppet adventure was "Somey from WR."

Somey from WR (T-C-L-K-R-D)

See Wikipedia Review thread: http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=20774

and my victory lap months later: http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showt...52&#entry164452

For laughs, compare Alison's block log summary ("Quit socking already. I've asked before (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/unhappy.gif)") with her comment on the above-linked WR thread (I just blocked it. Meanie-me (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/dry.gif) Yeah, I know who it is but I ain't tellin' (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif) ).

Next in the sockpuppet parade was one of my favorites:

Shalom wants his junk deleted (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Every contribution by this account was priceless (or worthless from a non-trolling perspective). Some links to get you excited:

I'll try to get this finished tonight.

Dmcdevit blocked my socks on two or three separate occasions:

Baseball Lola (T-C-L-K-R-D) only one edit on RFA, I think he didn't like me by this time

Palomalove (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Schon rules (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Deebaj Prathamesh (T-C-L-K-R-D)
The puny bambino (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Lacking hubris (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Soberknight (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Qwopple (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Vbomjja (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Ahackurm (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Some of those usernames were inspired by my discovery that certain character patterns caused the account to be reported at SPI even if the user was innocent. I created several of these accounts in rapid succession, and they didn't make it as far as SPI because an alert admin was watching the user creation log.

Pope BEANS (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Hubris BEANS (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Tanoli BEANS (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Deeb BEANS (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Next, I retired as "Shalom Yechiel" and gave Iridescent and Majorly a final "Burn!" (Check their talkpages at end of January 2009; too tired to find the links). Simultaneously I retired "Crystal whacker" and promised to abandon the site. It lasted until I pulled Kivel (T-C-L-K-R-D) out of the sleeper closet. I made some routine edits, then I moved rail accident articles (a point of contention in my 2008 RFA) and finally I did this: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=273139093 and Samir blocked me.

I entered "Willy on Wheels" territory with this sockpuppet investigation of my three accounts, which spammed welcome messages on users who had registered minutes earlier. My purpose was to discourage them from editing by causing them to click on a link to [[File:Anus.jpg]].

SPI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Soc...gduckie/Archive

Flyingduckie (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Helloasdf999 (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Goodbyeasdf999 (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Notably, "Helloasdf999" was blocked for welcoming new users without the admin being aware that the messages contained booby traps. Hilarity ensued in my unblock requests: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Helloasdf999 (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif)

Finally, I exited as Chutznik (T-C-L-K-R-D) after a withdrawn run at ArbCom elections.

My last edits, fittingly, were vandalism by three more socks. I attacked an RFA, this time before it could gather enough support to pass. For a moment, I PWNED the universe!

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=341401872

Toothfairy1234 (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Winklehimer (T-C-L-K-R-D)
Wakko and yakko (T-C-L-K-R-D)

Here lies my wiki-gravestone. This almost caused me to shiver, I was so spooked that someone remembered me! But then the edit war spoiled it just a bit (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/wink.gif) (see the next two diffs after the link):

You can get anything you want at Yechiel's Restaurant

I just got one thing to ask you, kid...

(Well maybe two things.)

1. Did you pick up the trash?

2. Did you learn anything?

If by question 1 you intend "Did I clean up the bad edits I made?" the answer is usually no, but someone else did. If you mean real-world, I was usually the roommate who took the garbage to curbside (or otherwise it didn't get done and we had to wait till the next pickup date).

I did learn some things, both about content and human behavior. Most things I wrote about on Wikipedia, I did not know very well until I prepared to write Wikipedia articles for them. For example related to a chemistry graduate school assignment, see Polarizable continuum model (T-H-L-K-D) A classmate thanked me for posting that. I learned that dialogue with editors in the Good Article peer review process, which I did as Crystal whacker, could be pleasant even with the inherent challenges of trying to grade someone else's work.

I just have one important question.

Did any of these socks interact with users Thekohser or Wikipedia Review, or any topical area that concerned those accounts? If so, please provide some links. If not, I think I'm done with this thread.

This thread needs to be updated based on recent developments.

For the record, I am NOT Mark Pollogrino (T-C-L-K-R-D) , despite what Raul654 says in his block summary. If Mark Pellegrini has the checkuser tool (I don't know if he still does), he should use it before he makes false accusations in a block summary. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...oldid=493722333 But I can honestly say I support what that anonymous jerk did. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/smile.gif)

The other socks found by checkuser to be me are correctly identified as me.
