_ Articles _ Who said Wikipedia is good on Pop culture?

Posted by: occono

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_culture seems pretty terrible. Lots of junk citations in the lede.

Oddly, no-one seems to have noticed.

The conventional wisdom is that Wikipedia is full of teenage nerds, who are interested in and know a lot about pop music, the private lives of footballers and similar dross. Thus there is a lot of information about such topics, mostly pretty good. The downside is that such people don't know how to provide good sources.

Not surprising, really. There's a huge difference between writing intelligently about pop culture as a whole and writing up the plot summary of the latest My Little Pony episode.
