I know a Russian guy who says that the Russian Wikipedia is quite different from its English counterpart, a great deal obviously owing to significantly different outlooks and cultural biases between the two cultures. Oftentimes Russian articles are quite a bit better than their English-language counterparts as well.

looks like Kannada Wikipedia has about 11,200 articles, up from 6,900 in August 2009. its the 106th largest. But the language is in the mid 30s at least in terms of native speakers.

In comparison, Marathi is around #15 most spoken, and its wiki has 34,000 articles.
