Not hardly! Besides, they've deleted RMHED (T-C-L-K-R-D) 's user page, so we can't even verify this.

It was on his talk page, not his user page. His user page was deleted at his request as one of the first signs of impending meltdown, along with putting a banner at the top of his talk page reading "GO AWAY".

At the moment, it says "The End Is Nigh"...

It still doesn't look particularly unusual, though. And it just happened, so hardly worth mentioning at this stage - most of the established users who do this are back within a week, sometimes within a day or two. And they've learned nothing in the meantime, unfortunately.

I don't mean to seem dismissive, though... Is there anything special or unusual about this situation that doesn't appear at first glance? (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/unsure.gif)

Unusual? Well, RMHED was an Arb Comm candidate, so he's of at least slight interest, I'd think. He also tried, in his way, to address the BLP problem (by sticking PRODs on dozens or hundreds of unreferenced BLPs). But I think his departure's probably been a while in coming.

He's on a vandalism spree right now and from the looks of things, has now got himself blocked. He's gone on to cycle out his IP address to vandalize articles with the 'ARSEHOLE' comment. Mega-burnout (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/ohmy.gif) (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/confused.gif)

I do agree. He's been showing signs of instability for quite some time and the flameout honestly took longer than I had expected.

Standing for Arbcom is, arguably, one technique used by those who have realised they can't change the system and just want to make as public a comment - "inWiki" - as they can before giving up entirely.

Perhaps.

And now, he'll be tagged forever as a "problem", by assorted officious little slimes.
After THEY made his life miserable.

This is becoming at least a weekly occurrence.

It's what those little fuckers excel at--
driving otherwise good people crazy.

And btw, this is not a "sickening joke". Appropriate, if anything.

Anyone familiar with this Aitias (T-C-L-K-R-D) person? Looks like yet another
block-revert machine who contributes almost nothing, and ignores criticisms.
(Or stabs the criticizer in the back.)

Yeah, I noticed that:

Off-wiki harassment by User:EricBarbour

I just saw this edit from User:EricBarbour at RMHED's talk page inviting RMHED to participate in a off-wiki discussion here [link to this thread]. In this discussion User:EricBarbour wrote: “(Starting to get the feeling that Aitias IS, in fact, an arsehole....)”. I won't take action here myself, but nevertheless I'd like to ask whether this kind of off-wiki harassment is deemed acceptable. — Aitias // discussion 04:55, 26 February 2009

"Boo hoo hoo, the bad mans are saying insulting and perfectly true things about me!"

Why on Earth is he crying to people on Wikipedia about what's being written about him here? Does he think Jimbo can wave his magic fasces and punish all the wrong-doers? What the hell does he expect a bunch of pimply Wikipedia factotums to do about it? These people really do have a total lack of perspective and social skills, don't they?

RMHED was one of the few people to dare to defy the groupthink of the Wikistocracy when I was indefinitely blocked by JzG, and it annoys me to see him being fed into Jimbo's woodchipper.

I was quite impressed by this "RMHED" character and his answers to questions when he ran for that election recently.

QUOTE(RMHED)
A. I'm all in favour of an Opt Out of the marginally notable, or to be clearer, anybody not in a traditional paper encyclopedia of one kind or another should be allowed to Opt Out of Wikipedia.
A. Yes to that, the sooner a non consensus BLP AfD is a default delete the better IMO.

....

A. I'd try to pressure the Foundation into taking an OFFICE action of semi protecting all BLP's and introducing Flaged Revisions. This stuff is too important to be left to consensus, trying to get a consensus for any major change on Wikipedia is nigh on impossible these days.

At least he has the right idea and priorities.

Good grief, what a mess and a waste of time. Childishness abounds, and am I correct that Aitias is an admin?

It's like a ready-made billboard for why Wikipedia is a waste of time. At any given point, a discussion between two people the WP community trusts (one of whom can apparently block people) can degenerate into a schoolyard shoving match between two thirteen year-olds.

Yes, Aitias seems to be a complete jerk. Take a look at this, where Aitias blocked RMHED back in December for ridiculous reasons.

Decent people get frustrated too. Here's another case of user burnout, while wikipediots do nothing about the bullying from one of their admins.

This is the consequence of behaviour discussed in this thread - wikipedia puts its unpaid labourers into a pressure cooker, then shrugs off responsibility when the stress starts to show.

RHMED is one of the resident British malcontents with problems telling the difference between irony and rudeness -- his attempts to be wry never quite worked and he often wound up coming across as sour, sarcastic and mean-spirited. Not being an admin, he was never able to get away with this silly behavior and was, thus, the subject of harassment (as we see today). He also lacked admin clique protection that shields other perennial big mouths -- fellow Brit Malleus Flatulence (or whatever the fuck his name is) does the same shtick but is protected by the admin Iridescent, who also falls into the category of the obnoxious British boors (it must be something in the water over there).

That being said, the RHMED murder looks like a Wiki who's who of tool-possessing assholes. We have Barry Bonds-worthy banhammer swings from the likes of Xeno, Tznkai, Protonk, Aitas, Kevin -- to paraphrase Baha Men, who let the jerks out?

However, barnstars are in order for Wehwalt (perhaps the one admin with a brain, heart and courage) and Eric Barbour (my new hero) for bringing a sense of maturity and sincerity to this mess. And a cheer to Smash the State for his input at WP:AN. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/evilgrin.gif)

Hahaha. Someone's a little sensitive.

This sort of meltdown is what I saw in my own future. I parted before I popped my top; otherwise, I would have been cussing people out left and right.

Fatuorum, dipstick. Some people just deserve some protection. He's one of them. Anyway, good call on categorizing Eva Destruction as an "obnoxious British boor". You really enjoy talking out of your ass don't you?

Some people on the project really have good intentions and do their best to bring about positive change -- like improving the handling of BLPs, provoking change in the way unruly admins are handled and in the RFA process, etc, etc -- while also doing great content work. It's practically impossible to actually see any change in the broken areas of the project, but at least they put in effort. You apparently lump these people in a category of "obnoxious British boors". Fascinating.

Definitely one of the most entertaining burnouts so far this year, though I get the impression that it was mostly planned in the sense that he clearly wanted out of that shithole and decided to make it as messy as possible. Good for him.

Of course there always has to be an arsehole in these situations, so step forward Aitias (T-C-L-K-R-D) ! Your 15 minutes has begun; enjoy the ride. You weasly little fuckwit. No offence. I think his much-mentioned plea on AN/I is a classic and is deserving of placement in some kind of "Wikipedia's Greatest Weasly Hits" category.

Not new. That's precisely the tactic Che Guevara most often employed. With a relatively tiny but highly mobile guerilla force, he would make small, lightning-fast raids against military targets and then vanish, denying the enemy a target to respond. By doing this repeatedly he would goad the State into ever greater and more repressive reprisals against its own citizens until they could tolerate it no longer, at which point Che was there to provide them with guns and training.

Blog material!! And I just loooove how Protonk pretended to "calm the waters", whilst
taking a backhanded swipe at me.

If a turd drips in the wiki-forest, does it make a sound?

Ottava - stop stirring trouble. I'm not a 'prominent member' of Wikipedia Review - I'm a regular poster there. Unlike you, who got banned from there. Ooops - disclosure! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/smile.gif) And again, what Eric said on there cannot be construed as 'harassment', at best, it's a direct observation, at worst, an offensive epithet. Time to move on and let it go - Alison ❤ 22:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Can we not escalate this entire mess any further, before we start seeing meltdowns? rootology ©(T) 05:24, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Is Eric Barbour's statement verifiable? Wikipedia has strict conditions for verifiability. Richard Hock (talk) 11:28, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

That's not even original, that's just borrowed from what they were saying at WR. At least write your own material, dude!--Wehwalt (talk) 12:42, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

What's WR? Richard Hock (talk) 12:58, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Wrathful Rantings [pipelink to WP article on WR]; a website chock a block with generators and purveyors of hot air and the rare quite funny joke (some of whom are not WP admins, or even editors). LessHeard vanU (talk) 13:50, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Our feelings are hurt. I think quite funny jokes are more than rare on WR, LessHorrid. Not quite up to WP standards, but we try harder.

Of course, LH, not wanting to stir up trouble, failed to mention he posts here, also. Being pounced on by Ottava would not be a quite funny thing. No, not at all. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/laugh.gif) At least not if you're LessHorrid. (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/happy.gif)

This kind of tattling is what I dealt with when I worked with third graders today.

Wonderful. He's a genuine wanker, and obviously completely oblivious to the fact. Heh!
A wakner, you mean.

I can go with that. An asbotule, tatol wakner.

Haha. And now Ottava is there to post a disclaimer about Alison's participation here.

Haha. And now Ottava is there to post a disclaimer about Alison's participation here. Someone should note that he's banned from this site (right?), which might also cause his comments to be a bit biased.

Just for the record, Ottava rima (T-C-L-K-R-D) was one of the worst and most obnoxious right-wing hate-mongers we've ever had to deal with here, to the point where I (and one or two others) became convinced he was faking the whole thing just to amuse himself at our expense. But for him to call us "hateful" is like... oh dear, I don't think there's even an analogy for that one! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/wacko.gif)

He's a good example of everything that's wrong (and hateful) with Wikipedia and its sister projects. He's also a liar, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that he's also an Encyclopedia Dramatica admin.

Having spoken to him since his ban from here, I believe the former to be true, and I would not be surprised to find the latter to also be true.
