I saw some vandalism of Tim Song related stuff on non-Wikipedia WMF pages. Would this have anything to do with that?

I should point out to anybody who might be stumbling in here without context that I have no reason to believe that either admin is actually active in Chicago street gangs; my suggestion that they were was intended to ridicule Vic's fixation on comparing Wikipedia's governance to that of a Chicago street gang. Rather a poor attempt at humour, probably, but nowhere near my worst.

Wikipedia governance, those two words are an Oxymoron. There is no governance, not in the sense of what most people understand the word.

What Wikipedia governance is more akin to 1920's Chicago during the beer wars between the rival gangs.

I believe this has something to do with the use of Wikipedia (by Goethean (T-C-L-K-R-D) and one or two others) to advertise local microbreweries in the Chicagoland area.

There are numerous legitimate reasons to oppose the use of Wikipedia for this purpose, not least of which is that beer consumption contributes to the nationwide obesity epidemic, as well as increases in drunk-driving-related fatalities.

Are microbreweries in other cities/states as well-represented on Wikipedia as the ones Goathead personally frequents in Chicago/Illinois? It appears so: There's a state-by-state category, and I see that Michigan, Wisconsin, New York, Oregon (that's where Tedder (T-C-L-K-R-D) is from), Texas, and Pennsylvania are all far more well-represented than Illinois. (Maybe someone should check Goathead's contribs, though, since he might not be adding the appropriate categories to articles on his personal favorite microbreweries.)

Meanwhile, Iowa has only one microbrewery in its category, Millstream Brewing (T-H-L-K-D), located in the Amana Colonies (T-H-L-K-D). What a gyp! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/hrmph.gif)

So, I guess I can't agree that this is something to be seriously concerned about, but to call it something other than "advertising" actually is a bit disingenuous, IMO.

The one in my current hometown is there. Of the two in my former hometown, one is represented, while the other (the more prominent of the two, strangely) was deleted by PROD in 2007.

But yeah, it looks like giving microbreweries articles is standard.

Well, I have asked Mr. Tarc to stop baiting Mr. Victim, and he doesn't seem to want to stop...

At the same time, it does seem a little odd that Mr. Victim would be involved in trying to delete articles about microbreweries, since these are local businesses that contribute at least something to the local economies in which they operate, and that's something a pro-business conservative such as Mr. Victim should (in theory) support. Though many would also argue that such establishments mostly just serve to get more people drunk before they drive home and beat up their kids.

I'm assuming Mr. Tarc didn't look at the contribs for Tim Song (T-C-L-K-R-D) or Tedder to see just what was really going on, which is perhaps unfortunate. Anyway, one thing we do know is that Goethean (T-C-L-K-R-D) likes beer. A lot. He doesn't really hide his identity anymore, so it's easy to find him all over the internet promoting beer, as well as his primary topic interest, that of Ken Wilber's so-called "Integralism" mumbo-jumbo. It strikes me that "Integralism" is precisely the sort of thing that an habitual beer-drinker would become involved with in lieu of an actual life philosophy...

I started writing a lengthy thread-start (or maybe it should be a blog post) about "Wilberism" cult-promotion on Wikipedia, but still haven't finished it... sorry about that! Goethean is only slightly less obvious than someone like Jossi or Bksimonb (T-C-L-K-R-D) in that regard, and considerably more successful at it than others we've seen - some of whom are far more reasonable about it too, such as our very own HRIP7 (aka Jayen466 (T-C-L-K-R-D) ).

Oh, stop being such a nancy-boy. So, some users are making wiki-articles to advertise non-notable breweries. In the grand scheme of all that is wrong with the Wikipedia, from ideological battlegrounds to unsourced BLP nightmares to dubious gay porn bios, THIS is what you want to rally the troops around?

"JoeHazleton" is this;

and this;

(IMG:http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y169/tarc0917/tcvictim.jpg)

type of "conservative". Don't pretend that a rational, lucid conversation can ever be had with this.

I don't believe you read the posts thoroughly - I'm agreeing that these articles are harmless and that Mr. Victim shouldn't be targeting the articles, or the promotion of microbreweries on WP in general.

However, the more clever players of the Wikipedia MMORPG know that the best way to insulate yourself from accusations of promoting something questionable, such as the Wilber cult, is to make lots of wiki-friends by helping to promote something popular, such as beer. Goethean is very good at this, but his personality is too abrasive to allow him the kind of success Jossi had for so long in promoting the Prem Rawat organization (just to give the most well-known/obvious example).

Finally, having rational, lucid conversations with someone like Mr. Victim isn't really the point. I'll admit it's probably impossible, but that doesn't mean everything he says is ludicrous or even wrong. (Just the parts I personally disagree with!)

The reason Why I was trying to get the Goathead's fav microbrewery deleted from wikipedia is this: One, I suspected that Goathead got paid to place the Ad (article) on wikipedia. I wanted to be removed, because, TB(Two brothers brewery) is not the only one in the western suburbs and I felt that It was unfair advantage to the other Micro breweries around.

Two, With Goathead in the wik ban box, I thought by missing with the article, with a sock that Goathead easy connect to me, would drive him nuts and to use his socks on the article and it would allow me to try to ID those who were his sock accounts or meat puppet accounts (goathead buddies) With this I had ID'd Tim Song (T-C-L-K-R-D) , Milowent (T-C-L-K-R-D) and Tedder (T-C-L-K-R-D) as friends or Socks of Goathead.

Three, The way Mr Tim Tim Song wiped clean and redacted a legitimate wp deletion process based on published WP Policy, not based on rule of law of governance, it was done, based on the Tingly dick (sorry duck) of Mr TIM (I'M a NUT) Song. This shows again there is no governance on Wikipedia, in fact is just unilateral actions by god like admin, with out control, moderation or answerable to an earthly authority.

I have been watching Goathead, as he was turned loss on wikipedia again from his 1 week ban and he's at it again on his fav new age dribble. Since the others, who Goathead is now locked in battle, it will not be long he gets in a edit war and causes himself to be banned for a much longer time. I watch now with delight.
