NawlinWiki has just abused the deletion function by deleting a swath of edits and page-move logs that do not meet the criteria for deletion. Here is his recent rampage: [1]. I will give some examples of the content he is removing from the logs and page history:
  • From the article Boss: "Jimbo Wales is the final boss."
  • From the article United States Department of Homeland Security: "United States Department of Fascism and Civilian Conformance"
  • From the article Wikipedia:WikiProject Living people: "Wikipedia:WikiProject Totalitarian Censorship"
  • From the article United States Cabinet: "United States President’s Lackeys"
  • From the article Jonah Falcon: "Mine is much bigger."
  • From the article Woman's Christian Temperance Union: "The Woman's Christian Temperance Union is responsible for ruining society and promoting totalitarianism."
  • From the article Schadenfreude: "I love this. It makes life seem more tolerable."
  • From the article Jan Brewer: "Jan Brewer is awesome."
  • From the article United States Congress: "United States Coneheads"
  • From the article Arizona SB1070: "An excellent law"
  • From the article Eminent domain: "Eminent domain is when the government steals your land and gives it to a rich person or corporation or to itself. It is a perfect example of fascism and should be illegal."
  • From the article Digital signal: "Digital signals are about as reliable as Wikipedia, whereas analog signals are about as reliable as Encarta. Unfortunately, both analog and Encarta are dead, killed by the ċrap."
  • From the article Pedosphere: "It is also another name for Wikipedia."
  • From the article Israel and the apartheid analogy: "The Jewish people have been oppressed throughout history. Now that they finally have the power to defend themselves and exact deserved vengeance, everybody is getting all scared and butt-hurt."
  • From the article Honey, I Shrunk the Kids:
  • From the article Caps lock: "CAPS LOCk IS CRUlSE CONtROL FoR COOL."
  • From the article Analog signal: "Analog signals are better and stronger than digital ones. I HATE the fuċking government! Whoever legislated the mandatory digital television switchover law should be assassinated."
  • From the article Controversies about the word "niggardly": "Damned niggardly niġgers need to learn how to use the fuċking dictionary."
  • From the article Achaemenid Empire: "Massively butthurt by SPARTAAA!"
  • From the article Social anxiety disorder: "The easiest cure is to kill yourself."
  • From the article Contempt of court: "The fascist law known as “contempt of court”"
  • From the article Gravitation: "My cock is so massive, it has its own gravitational pull."
  • From the discussion page Talk:Density: "Cyde Weys (Benjamin McIlwain)’s density is very great."

Now, aside from the "Talk:Density" log, how are any of these offensive enough to warrant redaction from the history pages and move logs? Most of them are not even offensive, such as the Jan Brewer one saying "Jan Brewer is awesome." In Wikipedialand, is "awesome" an insult?

In my opinion, NawlinWiki should be stripped of his administrator powers and banned for massive abuse of the revision deletion function. Any thoughts?

Sylar, did you just not notice that the originaly thread for this post of yours was moved over here? I mean, you don't actually expect us to tell you that we've moved your threads, surely?

FWIW, other than the "easiest cure is to kill yourself" comment, I see no reason why they shouldn't have let those edit summaries stand. It's not like they do anything to prevent them, after all.

As for your calling for the assassination of "whoever legislated the mandatory digital television switchover law," that's likely to be so vague as to be essentially harmless. Maybe if you could name, say, ten people (or fewer) who were the prime movers in the US Congress then we might have something... just as a suggestion, I'd focus the search not on the "switchover," but rather the discontinuation of analog TV broadcasting. It's the government that calls it the "June 12, 2009 DTV Transition deadline"; they want you to think it's a switchover, and you've already fallen for it once. Get with the frickin' program, man! smile.gif

This is the law, by the way. Find out who wrote it, who sponsored it, and especially who "shepherded it" through the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which is where most of the work took place. (I'd look it up myself, but I'm a little busy cleaning up after you at the moment.)

Some of us can't afford cable and dislike censorship. Furthermore, this thread is about an editor; therefore, it belongs in the Editors forum.

I have a mental image of you adjusting the rabbit ears of one of your parents' old TVs in your dorm room and gettting nothing. Gosh, missed the $60 converter box. Shouldn't you be, like, studying?

The converter boxes are absolute shit. With analog, the pictures on the TV were crystal-clear, and now they have all these lines zig-zagging across the screen. And I don't have rabbit-ear antennae. I have a big antenna on the roof.

Well, if you haven't got $300 for a new small screen digital TV, then I guess it SUX2BU. Play with your internet and be glad you have enough to eat.

Why should I be glad that the fascist government stole my analog signals? And why should I have to buy a small digital TV when I already have a 32-inch normal TV? Just because the government wants me to spend more money? I don't think so.

<tiny bris> I have a big antenna on the roof.

You need to get up there and make special adjustments for the new broadcasts.
  • First, connect a wire to the 'ground' of your home's electrical system. Get a good long copper wire, insulated, at least fifty feet.
  • Strip the other end and form a small noose with the copper.
  • Shave your right ankle and attach the wire firmly to the shaven area. Duct tape it on tight.
  • Get an aluminum ladder and extend it to the antenna.
  • Climb up and adjust the antenna until it points to magnetic north, allowing for the pole shift in the last few years.
  • Stay up long enough for electric potential to equalize.

They didn't steal them, they sold them on your behalf and gave the money to some poor beleagured hedge funds. Doesn't that just give you a warm glow of happiness?

It's a form of gambling for rich people. Though given the bail-outs the gambling part is probably now obsolete.

Nah. Despite all the wailing about the few hedge funds that managed to pull down some TARP money, almost all the rest got plastered. Even worse than the managed funds that probably hold your retirement savings.

My own retirement advisor uses America Funds-- a bunch of managed funds in which performance sucked so badly that they were beaten by unmanaged index funds the last couple of years. So I'm thinking of rolling over and eliminating the middleman. Managing investment funds is getting to be like playing Jeopardy against the IBM computer-- and ultimately for much the same reason. Only the "managers" make any money. You might as well spread it out over certain sector and foreign funds then *don't look* fear.gif pinch.gif hmmm.gif pinch.gif . I'd buy gold and bury it or something, but the game is rigged so you have to keep it with some kind of watched over 401k to get the tax and other benefits (like the zero-interest borrowing after the seasoning period). But THEY can't buy gold with it (for some reason that always has escaped me).

Nope, I've made absolutely no financial provisions for my retirement. If I live that long I plan on being a tremendous burden on the state.

That game only works if the state has money to play it with you. Which it likely will not. So your plan to be a tremendous burden on the state boils down to an actual plan to wind up in an emergency department in a county hospital with all your worldly belongings in a plastic bag. Where you will wait and be treated for your fever or chest pain by disinterested interns while you wait 24 or 48 or 72 hours for an admission bed that never materializes because the wards are full. When you suffer cardiac arrest they'll run a code blue on you that will last 20 minutes and is designed to give people some practice in technique. Then, off you'll go to the morgue. Where, if nobody claims you, there's a low-budget plan in place for that contingency also.

I dunno why people think they can avoid the laws of economics and nature. It can't be done, although it often leads to all-out pretending that rivals the Oscar-winners in performance quality.

It can't be done, although it usually leads to pretending that rivals the Oscar-winners in performance quality.

I was thinking more along the lines of imprisonment, most UK prisons probably beat state nursing homes for quality of life.

As to the laws of economics, well that's just a laughable concept. Those are the sort of laws that suckers obey.

Maybe if I knew what the hell a hedge fund was.

Most managed funds are something close to a scam. Gold's probably topped off, is riskier than one might think and only looks good in retrospect - bit of a bubble there too.
