Jayjg's comeback edits indicate that he pre-wrote them, saved them as text, and then submitted them all at once.

That's a hell of a lot of was-formerly-constipated personal expression backup to release at one time to the planet earth.

It doesn't look like there is much to his encyclopedia edits; I would even go so far as to say that they are not POV-pushing. The few I looked at are mostly correcting links.

Still, having removed the "wikibreak" tag from his talk page, it may be that the arch-propagandist is back. I had taken his departure as a sign that his handlers had decided that no one took Wikipedia seriously anymore, so there was no further need to manipulate it. It may be that Jayjg's "return" is only to serve the purpose of laying out some data according to which that interpretation might be denied.

I'd kind of like to see Jayjg back at it full time, partly because his interference with Wikipedia has been mostly defensive in nature, and as long as he's occupied with it he won't be doing even more wicked things. And partly because I'm pretty sure that it makes him miserable! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif)

I meant to point this out, actually - thanks for reminding me, Jorge:
QUOTE
Explaining the rationale for bringing Shankbone to Israel, David Saranga, the spokesman at the consulate in New York, said: "More than once we have faced editors connected to Israel that appear on Wikipedia in English that do not represent the reality in Israel. We decided to initiate a visit by Shankbone to describe Israeli reality as it is."

"We have faced editors"?

I don't see how they could have "faced editors" in any venue but Wikipedia itself... right? So who is "we," exactly?

I have nothing against people representing various governments editing WP as a general rule, but that's not to say it wouldn't be interesting to know who they are, and what exactly they're doing.

Eh, public announcements are more about the publicity they generate than about anything real going on in the world. Probably this is a phony "Oh gosh we just realized people are getting information from Wikipedia and there is no control over it!" moment. Heck, the Israel promoters have made their way into "The Complete Idiot's Guide" series; it defies credulity to believe they've just discovered Wikipedia.

Jayjg continues his strange editing pattern, perhaps as a distraction to pattern watchers.

13 December 2007 31 edits 03:12 to 03:14
14 December 2007 18 edits 03:15 to 03:16
17 December 2007 12 edits 03:17

When good-naturedly questioned about his bot-like edits, Jjayg responds with a quote from Roy Batty, the leader of the Nexus Six androids in the Blade Runner screenplay.

"Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled around their shores... burning with the fires of Orc."

I wonder if his account will expire after four years? So much could be read in to his choice of words, but I suspect he's just trying to appear deep and yes, mess with us.

It's standard psy-ops in a fantasy role-playing war game.

Which, evidently, is what WP has morphed into.

that's about right. Jajyg should, like Batty, have his account recalled. He ran amok and WP:PHILIPDICK policy calls for accountability.

When Jayjg was gone, some of his allies got banned. Jayjg, despite all his power and influence over wikipedia and Jimbo, hasn't done a thing to get them unbanned.

One guy was this guy who was making all the middle-eastern articles biased like jayjg wanted them.

The other was always attacking jayjg's enemies.

Both had weird middle-eastern usernames I can't remember at all.

It suggests he has has a sockpuppet account and fears that comparison of edits with that account will reveal it as his sock, thus he taking these defensive measures in pre writing edits copying them into notepad and then posting them on WP en mass.

What is it to "face" but to challenge. Does this indicate the cabal orientation towards ultra-pro-Israel stance?

Curious.

(ps. Before I get accused of being anti-Israel, I am not that. I'm Israel pro-to-neutral. But I am anti-anyone-WP:POINT-ing via WP:BULLYing - for anything, Israel or not).

I'm afraid it is pretty impossible for something that has open editing to be neutral on Palestinian and Israeli issues. As an example of the ridiculous paranoia that some of the Israeli POV pushers have, pictures of Palestinian children were censored from the Palestinian article because they were supposedly trying to "gain sympathy".

It suggests he has has a sockpuppet account and fears that comparison of edits with that account will reveal it as his sock, thus he taking these defensive measures in pre writing edits copying them into notepad and then posting them on WP en mass.

Didn't realise jorge was an anagram of Durova... (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/unsure.gif)

Well could you think of any other reason why someone would make 31 edits within two minutes? I certainly can't.

(Sorry that was meant to be a smiley, I thought it sound logic).

What was in my mind was that, given the presumption of guilt, if this was done by someone that they disapproved of there would be new policy being spouted forth like no tomorrow.

Perhaps someone should try adding this to the WP:SOCK policy: automated edits are not allowed as they may be used to evade SOCK checking.

On a practical side, you cannot design an edit in the morning and know that the edit will be ok in the evening, and you cannot discuss edits with a bot.

Jay was banned from editing for a certain period of time, either by arb com or by Jimbo. And he is now on some type of editing restriction, most likely something to do with the types of edits he can make within 24 hours of each other (think zero/one revert rule). This was all kept quiet.

I'm fairly convinced of this. No direct evidence, but it makes a lot of sense.

EDIT: No more than one edit to any particular article in a 24-hour period would explain it.

So much could be read in to his choice of words, but I suspect he's just trying to appear deep and yes, mess with us.

that's about right. Jajyg should, like Batty, have his account recalled. He ran amok and WP:PHILIPDICK policy calls for accountability.

If that were true, it would make sense for him to queue up his edits and then release them as a batch when the diurnal timeclock expires.

Forcing Jay to be a Jaybot makes it less likely he'll get involved in edit wars and perhaps a "cooling off" period between edit and implementation is designed to reduce the chance that he'll fly off the handle.

It doesn't look like he's been using CheckUser either. He's blocked two IPs as Alberuni socks but he wouldn't need check user to do this as he'd already know Aberuni's previous IPs.

I don't know, but the fact that he is only editing in one spasm every 24 hours and is so careful not to do it twice in a 24 hour period that he's set his program to resume exactly 24 hours and 1 minute after his last edit is strongly indicative of a restriction. If he was just trying to limit himself - or for some reason had limited internet access - why not just set his program to edit at the same time every day rather than 24 hours + 1 minute after the last edit? It's reminiscent of the revert warrior who obeys the letter of 3RR by waiting exactly 24 hours and 1 minute before making the fourth revert.

It also looks like Jayjg has so little self-control that instead of doing what any normal person would do and just log on to wikipedia every day and a bit or so and edit for a few minutes he's set a program that allows him to, evidently, write his edits in advance throughout the day and then have them submitted all at once.

I'm sure he's just doing it to screw with people's heads, but still... I'd like to see the code he's using! I thought about writing a program like that myself, once, to leave randomly-selected awards on randomly-selected Uncyclopedia user-talk pages. But then I figured, hey, stupid idea...

It could be the program isn't set to check for the actual time-of-day, but is actually using a timer object, which is a common feature of most programming IDE's these days. If the timer is set to go off exactly 24 hours after the previous run, and the previous run lasted a minute, then voila, 24 hours and one minute.

If he's stressed out from all the wikidrama he's helped create, that's actually a perfectly reasonable explanation. Maybe he's doing this under doctor's orders...?

Of course, if we think longer-term, remember that software development generally occurs in phases. If Phase 1 is the relatively simple hybridization of automated vandal-bot code with a local database that allows him to set up batch edits in advance, what's Phase 2? Something tells me it isn't a feature that leaves randomly-selected awards on randomly-selected user-talk pages.

Is that a serious question? Wikipedia Review has an entire forum filled with things he's done. He's been involved in long protracted edit wars on various pages for a long time now, for one. About the only thing he does on Wikipedia is push his point of view. Even if you just take his publicly known actions, he's still been involved in plenty of things that deserve restriction. And I'm sure there's a lot more once you know the private details. He's "caused a huge amount of unnecessary drama", as certain people would say.

A restriction to no more than one edit to any particular article in a 24-hour period would explain his current editing. It's either that or he's just doing this to mess with us. The latter, I think, gives him way too much credit.

Maybe because he's socking under different ISPs and he prefers a different ISP better than the one he used for the Jayjg account. So he's socking on another ISP and that's what he watchlists and checks and all. Then once a day he jumps to the Jayjg account to do all his edits at once under the same Jayjg IP range.

ArbCom normally supports these actions rather than opposes them or at the very least doesn't care.

Someone has conveniently deleted all the criticism from the lead, in violation of [[WP:LEAD]].

I'm planning to go in tonight and do some re-adding and tagging. Will you be able to watch my back?

So, what's the deal here? Does he have a live streaming webcam focused on his back while he's editing WP? And why would he want to ensure that people were watching it? I hope he wears a shirt while this is going on...

I don't blame him for wanting to ensure that the Messianic_Judaism article remains in a pristine state, but this e-mail didn't have a salutation on it. Is it possible it was sent to more than one person, perhaps on yet another sooper-sekrit list?

Well, that's just great. If it turns out there really is a sooper-sekrit mailing list devoted to maintaining the preferred state of Judaism-related articles on WP, how soon do you think we'll hear the end of that? I'm thinking sometime in the 27th century, but only if we're really, really lucky.

Oh well...Oops!

Well, I think IronDuke disappeared at the same time as Jayjg back in July, not sure about Tewfik though. But they are both certainly doing their best to "shape public opinion" as the Israeli Foreign Ministry puts it.

It's also possible these aren't Jayjg, but people recruited by the Hasbara fellowships.
