Anybody know who is the woman with Jimbo in this photo (center), and in this photo (left)?

Is that Der Jimbo's former assistant at Wikia, Sierra Lovelace? Nah, that's not the same woman as the real Sierra (left).

Very mildly tawdry, but a photo of him with his secretary doesn't mean he was schtupping her, now does it? In your haste to smear Jimbo, please take care of the reputation of a (mostly) innocent.

I don't see a "smear" above, Gomi.

I'm guessing Greg's point is that Jimbo tends to date whoever's most readily available, which generally means female bloggers who want to become legitimate news reporters. So, it might be useful to know if this woman is yet another blogger/reporter-wannade. I'll admit it isn't a particularly important point, but there it is.

I doubt it was his secretary, or even an employee - these photos were taken at the Quadriga awards, and since the awards have been cancelled this year, we probably have to assume the photos are from 2008, the year Wikipedia got the award (though they apparently never got the 25,000 Euros).

In 2008, Jimbo was pretty much a free agent - he was dating Rachel Marsden in the early part of that year, but I can't imagine he would have treated that relationship as exclusive. The Quadriga awards are usually given out in late summer, so he had at least 4-5 months to find a nice German gal to take to the ceremony. She could be a minor media personality over there, maybe... but she isn't particularly well-dressed for a semi-formal awards ceremony, particularly given that she's accompanying one of the recipients. So my guess is, she's a blogger - or at best, someone in journalism school - who e-mailed him at precisely the right time.

Gomi, if you haven't yet figured out that interesting and important stories emerge, ex post facto, from knowing the people with whom Jimbo connects himself (Michael Davis, Larry Sanger, Ryan Jordan, Carolyn Doran, Rachel Marsden, Freud Communications, to name just a few -- and I know of others privately whom I won't mention), then you're just not paying attention, or you're pushing an irrational agenda that we must "protect" all people who fall into Jimbo's orbit.

It's useful to know the identities of these people, because there's a damn good chance that something odd, or self-serving, or conflicted in interest is just around the corner.

Granted, there will occasionally be a "false alarm" like Tara Hunt, but I'd rather have the information that wants to be free, rather than shutting my eyes and ears to it.

Well, fogive me then, I thought you were implying something salacious about a young women who had the misfortune to work in a position of little responsibility for Jimbeau. Guess I got that wrong.

Gentlemen, may I offer a few things?

One, if she appears in public like that, and allows herself to be photographed, trying to find her identity isn't what I would call "evil". We already know that Wales is (or pretends to be) a "playa", so revealing the identities of his many mistresses is not out of line. (In fact, I daresay that Jimbo is far from being an important-enough celebrity that paparazzi and tabloid reporters would care about his trysts and friendships. Such people do far worse things that this, routinely.)

Two, that said, I think Greg's time might be more effectively spent finding something really important on Jimbo's history prior to 2001. Just a suggestion.

Three, I would take this photo, crop it with GIMP or Photoshop, and run it thru TinEye.
Their algorithms are supposedly optimized for human faces, so this would be a good test.

That is as may be (though my experience of being photographed at charity balls is different from yours).

The point is, if you know that the person in question is not Jimbo's former assistant, then why connect her name with his in this way? I'm not accusing, I just don't get it. What purpose does it serve?

I trhink that's a misunderstanding of what TinEye does. It looks for photos that are similar to the one you upload or point to. It can find similar photos even if one is cropped or photoshopped in various ways, for example replacing the face of a model with someone else's face. However, it is not designed to find all photos of people who look like Jimbo's girlfriend (?) if you upload one photo of her.

For those who were planning on trying to help answer the question, mentioning that his personal assistant is ruled out removes one obvious possibility, thus expediting the research. Besides, Jimbo is the one who first "connected" his name with Lovelace's, not me -- on his Wikipedia User page that was getting about 7,000 page views a month, at the time.

I've figured it out.

Celia von Bismarck, dead at the age of 39.

Her ex-husband is described thusly on Wikipedia:
QUOTE
In 2007, he was called "Germany's laziest member of Parliament" by the Tabloid Bild, because he attended only 14 of 27 parliamentary sessions since the 2005 elections and voted only two times. He also failed to work in any of the parliamentary subcommittees and never attended any political meetings in his electoral district.

She worked as a consultant for "Dropping Knowledge", which is a Tides Center project. Of course, the Tides Center coordinated the Google donation to the Wikimedia Foundation.

I find this interesting...

Every photo of Celia von Bismarck that is retained in Wikimedia Commons was shot by photographer Ralf Roletschek in October/November 2008.

He states on his Commons User page (since February 2009):
QUOTE
I disagree with the GFDL license "or any later version" under § 313 (1) BGB as illegal under German law, both for my text posts as well as my uploaded pictures. Regardless of policies currently in force within the Wikipedia, I understand all of my published works as being licensed and in force according to GFDL 1.2. § 324 BGB of the contract GFDL 1.2 + back.

I strongly disagree to any relicensing of my images from GFDL to CC. For me as the copyright holder subsequent relicensing of my images is probited per bylaws and threatened with a block of my user account. So the Wikimedia Foundation has also no right to relicense my images arbitrarily. I'll consider any relicensing as an illegal act and betrayal of confidence. If you find an information on the image description page according to a possible relicensing and reuse under a licence I haven't intended, this is set against my will and therefore invalid!

Of course, nearly all of his images of Celia von Bismarck are listed under Creative Commons ‘Attribution-NonCommercial-NonDerivative 3.0 (US)’ licenses, apparently uploaded that way by Roletschek himself. So, he either had a change of heart about Creative Commons, or he's careless with his convictions.

All text is CC-BY-SA 3.0 by default, so he has already lost. He should have gone away a long time ago.
