_ Articles _ Shit on your neighbor

Posted by: thekohser

Has anyone here ever played the card game, "Shit on your neighbor", or "Screw your neighbor"?

Apparently, Wikipedia says it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Shit_on_your_neighbor enough for their pantheon of reputable games, you know, such as Traderwars.

This recent deletion seems to be a traffic boon for http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rlz=1T4GGIH_enUS231US231&q=%22shit+on+your+neighbor%22 that have information about the game. Proprietary site traffic data indicates that http://www.wikipediareview.com/Shit_On_Your_Neighbor has seen a traffic spike of substantial proportion since the Wikipedia deletion.

There are a couple of Wikipediots who wish to redirect the deleted page to Sheepshead, of course, quite oblivious to the fact that this game is not Sheepshead at all.

I love Wikipedia.

I've played it a lot before and learnt it from somebody who has never used the internet before, definitely not made up. I learnt it as something else (Chase the Ace?) though.

i used to play "fuck your neighbour" which also had a G-rated name of "President", the drinking game, in school, but I couldn't tell you the difference between it and "mexico", "asshole", "viking", or "three man" any more. they all involved projectile vomiting as the game's own reward though. "quarters" is truly a gateway game that the kiddies should "just say no" to....

biggrin.gif So "Screw your neighbor" is also called "President"? Apparently somebody suggesting the essence of organizational chief-executive function. sad.gif

I only know of it because I voted in opposition to Kurt per Kurt on its AFD.

Which is why there is no place for you on Wikipedia, since you are a deletionist vandal who incorrectly believes that existence is not sufficient criterion for inclusion.

You should leave. You're not welcome.

Why do you hate Wikipedia?

Sure, my grandfather taught it to me, but he called it "screw thy neighbor" but my grandmother would get furious at him and insist that we (kids at the time) call it "pass to thy neighbor". It's actually a rather interesting offshoot of roll 'em. It tends to make for bigger pots. Interestingly, it involves more strategy since you have to remember what three cards you passed and what three you were passed. It can be infuriating at times because sometimes you are dealt a killer hand, like a royal flush, only to have to break it!

Until I came upon Wikipedia I never knew there were so many ways to be annoying. "A pox on both of your houses" just doesn't cut it. A plague of poxes on all your houses, apartments, single detached units, duplexes, condos, villas, subdivisions, gated communities, Victorians, group homes, penthouses, single room occupancies, brownstones, halfway houses, cold water walk-ups, geodesic domes, trailer parks, shotgun shacks, garrets, colonials, garden levels, cape cods, tudors, cottages, ranches, crack-houses, mansions, crash pad, pup tents, split levels, tepees, high-rises, igloos, houseboats, yurts, mobile homes, chalets, caravans, cabins, sod-houses,bungalows, tree-houses, manufactured homes...might be a start.

I got the same thing over IRC from Kurt :/

I strongly object to being called a vandal, though.

Then stop being a vandal.

Ah, Kurt. Always the iconoclast. (well, that's the word I came up with after the first four or five were considered either vulgar or excessively insulting)

Can't wait for Kurtopedia, the encyclopedia of anyone and anything that ever existed.

Sceptre: If it helps, I'll guide you throwing Mister Weber on your ignore list on IRC and here on WR

Sure. I don't know how to ignore hostmasks.

Posted by: SirFozzie

as long as he's not changing nicks to continue to harass you, a simple /ignore KMweber (if that's his IRC Nick) should do. Depending on your IRC program, that will either ignore him the rest of the session, or put an entry in your ignore list permanently (too many IRC programs out there to be sure which one you use)

looking at his recent history - Kurt is like Jessica fletcher - any time he turns up at AFD, an article dies!

That always bugged me about Murder She Wrote. Why does no-one move out of Cabot Cove? At least it didn't get as bad as acknowledging the death count, like Midsomer Murders did.

Sceptre just went running to ANI to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Disruption_and_personal_attacks_from_Kurt about the "personal attacks" made on him by Kurt here. Sorta reminds me of the time that he went to the bureaucrats noticeboard to tell them he "needed" admin powers - to maintain his user pages. Amazing how one person can make such a fool of themselves so often rolleyes.gif

The usual double standard is present too:

QUOTE
SirFozzie is correct. Sceptre just ignore Kurt. He's just trying to draw you out. This thread is giving him satisfaction. He knows that he's the biggest prick on this planet and he loves the role. He feeds off of the attention people give him. Essentially he's a bully. As you know, in English lower schools we get told to ignore them. Simple as, Will. ScarianCall me Pat! 22:46, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Sceptre agrees:
QUOTE
Kinda reminds me of Mrs Trunchbull from Matilda: "Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it's unbelievable." Sceptre (talk) 22:51, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Remind me again Will, who's attacking who?

Don't take this the wrong way, but by this rationale I could make [[Rootology's bowel movement of the morning of July 19, 2008]], [[The pork kabob that Rootology had for lunch]], [[The charming Native American couple that Rootology chatted with on the northbound bus today]], [[The crazy but humorously charming screaming homeless person that wandered by Rootology downtown this afternoon, who smelled of urine]], and [[The tastiest Monster energy drink Rootology has drank in some time]], which I'm drinking right now, so I could tag it with {{current event}}.

I mean... c'mon.

The "I'm right" selfish sort of mindset that comes with it, and the extreme disdain Objectivists I've seen have to rules of certain kinds. I'm going to drop it, now. My rant about what a hack Rand was is on record in one of the Tar Pit threads, somewhere.

Selfishness is not arrogance, however.

Make an argument better than the ones I'm presenting, and I'll renounce my current argument. My first allegiance, after all, is to intellectual honesty.

Posted by: Casliber

I generally believe in being pretty soft on notability unless there is deliberately misleading information in an article's existence.

not sure I'd quite go to cmpletely unnotable stuff though. I have been dismayed at how much stuff has been culled in the last 2 years though.

Cue Wagner noise. Kurt, wearing an impossibly expensive suit, peers out the expansive window of his penthouse apartment atop of a grim fascistic looking skyscraper. An elegant older woman in an evening gown and cigarette holder drinks while sitting at a grand piano...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fountainhead couldn't deliver lines like that without looking like he had a stick up his ass.

On the premise that a lot of Objectivism is mutated Nietzsche, naturally that would be the Randroidian-correct view of Wagner: they warmly hated each other. Perhaps next we'll be hearing your heartfelt ideas about the evilness of Kant. wink.gif Please spare us.

Well, Jimbo figured that should apply to Mzoli's Meats. And had it not been for his followers cleaning up after him, to make it appear to be the most culturally significant butchery in South Africa, the crap he wrote would be there still, in original form. Or deleted.

Rootology, if you were Jimbo and liked your cellphone and wrote that page, you can be sure a bunch of your lackeys would turn it into a well-sourced and reasonably interesting article about anything you happened to have. biggrin.gif

Okay, seriously... being that "Shit on your neighbor" was nuked from Wikipedia, I absolutely want Traderwars axed from the big fat encyclopedia of non-trivial subjects. Someone AfD it, please.

Oh, dear.

Wikipedia's got it, but they call it "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranter-Go-Round". Sounds like a UK nomenclature.

Best that they keep it that way. I want all of the American "http://www.wikipediareview.com/Shit_On_Your_Neighbor" web traffic coming to my site, the only web property to properly teach the meaning and use of the "http://www.wikipediareview.com/Flauxbam".
