And no harm on the Kelly martin Joke... i was just F*in w/ you... actually the name's pretty funny. If it IS your real name its even funnier...
It actually is my real name, thank you, and her name is spelled differently anyway (she's a "Kellie", not a "Kelly").

Ah, makes more sense. but YES, he IS another internet meme. And he's friggin hilarious, but much more cool than the Star Wars kid or any of those freaks. I mean seriously, wouldn't you at to hang with this guy?
Nope, no interest in hanging with him at all. Not unless he's packing an FT-897 somewhere in all that junk.

If you're referring to the portable transceiver, he actually has one in storage. Not even kidding on that one...!!

No FT-2. I fact, I dunno if you mean a camera, transistor, gun or golf thing, but the only thing he's packing is a collection of about 30,000 vinyl records in a storage unit, & a juice box he can drink with a straw through the helmet.

Tell him to send it to someone who'll make some use of it, then. My address is on file with the FCC. smile.gif

FT2's another inside joke. We're bad for that here.

LOL.... dude has every possible gadget you can imagine from like the 60's until now. He has a frickin Streophonics reel-to-reel 1956 console with warranty, a Tron stand-up Arcade game, one of those old JVC Videosphere TVs, a Minox B Spy camera, Brionvega RR126 music center - you name it - he's got it. Last place any of its going is the FCC (ROFL) and as precaution I'm using an pseudo-ISP so we can't be tracked

BUT of course, I'm new so what the flip do I know about your being serious or not. Google Wave hasn't quite mastered the art of delivering sarcasm yet.

According to Wikimedia Commons, posting pictures of action figures, replicas, and statues which represent copyrighted stuff actually violates copyright and cannot be licensed under GFDL or a free license in general, because they include commercial use. In this case, the helmet of Boba Fett would infringe Lucas' copyright, and someone risks being sued.

Yes, after three years they're still debating whether a fictional character can or can't be drawn and licensed correctly. smile.gif

Actually according to the WMF's legal counsel, costume play does not fall into this category.

Suppose someone dresses up as, say, Spider-Man, and has a photo taken. The photo is neither a copyright violation nor a trademark violation. [1]

I can't comment on the legal basis for this but the position of commons image policy is that Marvel Comics would hold no third-party rights to a photo of a person thusly dressed. It would not matter whether they are an actor on a movie set or a kid at a halloween party, etc. This one was deemed public domain as it was taken by active duty Air Force.

Now, if only Wikipedia would confine itself to this sort of subject matter, it would be relatively benign.

This is one of the most entertaining WR threads I've seen in awhile. It kind of makes me want to attend a ComiCon or Cosplay convention, if someone can assure me that alcohol is freely available at those events.

The only time I ever heard of Boba Phat was on a mockumentary called The Formula, a fan-film about making Star Wars fan films. Boba Phat was some drunk with a beer-belly and undershirt drinking a beer, but with his helmet on. Very disturbing.

Not the same Boba Phat. The Formula featured some fat guy named "Boba Fatt" (if you IMDB it you'll see). Boba Phat is far from disturbing, in fact he's quite comical & is always a blast to be around at SW events. He wears a blue polyester suit, ascot & 70's shirt - not an undershirt at all. Also, he doesn't drink a beer, he carries a wine or brandy goblet with some mysterious liquid, but it's definitely not beer.

The real Boba Phat IS, however, featured in "Crashing the Con" a documentary about San Diego Comic Con 2008, and will be in an official Lucasfilm's upcoming film about SW fans.
