You both have a lot in common. It's so strange that you both are so antagonistic towards each other.

Is it? Think about what they have in common. tongue.gif Of course, as Milton Roe can confirm, likes frequently repel. Think magnets, static electricity.

I think this year's awards should include a "Honeymooners" category. idea.gif

It's almost a shame that Jimmy and the WMF cronies didn't pay more attention to WV, because it's going to be hard to blame its collapse on them. Unless of course their not paying attention was the root of the problem. huh.gif ermm.gif unsure.gif

That's yet another untold WMF story.

Find out how WV started and you'd have something to really talk about, I suspect.
You will probably find a mountain of skeletons in that dark cave of madness.
(And it will have nothing to do with either Abd or Ottava, protestations notwithstanding.)

This seems to sum it up:

However, it is easier to construct individual wiki textbooks using the Wikipedia method of "article construction". This has led to such textbooks as How to solve the Rubik's Cube, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and JAGS-2 but not a Neuroscience textbook.

"Hmmm" is right. Here's an example of a chapter in that "textbook" -- a chapter that you yourself most recently edited. Do you really think a short list of bullet point phrases constitutes a "textbook"?

And thanks to Ottava and WV, I think a dog teaser category, too.

I wonder if Cormaggio ever finished his dissertation about Wikiversity? From what I've learned about WV, I'll bet it reads like a Cormac McCarthy novel. mellow.gif ermm.gif

smile.gif On WP, JzG, SlimVirgin, and various others have played the Mexicans.

Eric's book will do some informing, as there's a huge amount of ignorance about WP, even among the supposedly technosavvy. I had a conversation just today with a classic IT geek who helped re-do the house IT system for my elderly parents. He knew all about IT, but I talked with him for 10 min about WP before I found out that he really thought that the semi-prot'd articles were totally closed to the general public, and weren't just (by and large) covered by a fig leaf of 10 edits and 4 days of waiting. He had assumed the "obvious" which (now that I think of it) isn't all that well explained to new users and the public (perhaps fortunately for WP). You really have to edit WP in earnest for quite some time before you really have any idea what it "is."

To be fair to Adrignola, that isn't and doesn't purport to be a chapter. It's a contents list, so of course it's just a list. Nor does it consist of bullet point phrases; it's a list of links to chapters of the book. Where there might be a valid criticism is that nine of the 11 links are currently still red. Clearly, that section at least of the book needs a lot more work. Still, there is a fair amount of material there, and what there is seems good. There is far worse stuff on Wikibooks (and of course on just about any WMF site I've looked at).

The base of the textbook is the page "Neuroscience", and all of the subpages(chapters) can be seen here. Looks like 20+ pages so far, and a long way to go.
