QUOTE(Sarcasticidealist @ Wed 2nd December 2009, 9:22pm) QUOTE(RDH(Ghost In The Machine) @ Wed 2nd December 2009, 5:21pm) Then pretend it never happened Well, the statement posted by ArbCom makes it very clear that the expulsion did happen, and that ArbCom was standing by it. Yet its key author resigns, all public record of it remains memory holed, and the Geroid is allowed to ceremonially lay down his supah powahs instead of having them taken from him. No, ArbCom's statement makes it clear that they were taken from him. Some justice I suppose, even though the other two blotches remain. Thanks to Mr. Metz at least the Gerog won't get away with it unnoticed. Maybe John Van will be resurrected as John Van The White...

QUOTE(Piperdown @ Thu 3rd December 2009, 4:57am) QUOTE(Cla68 @ Thu 3rd December 2009, 2:01am) So far, it appears that Mr. Godwin and Mr. Wales are hiding. Well, it's only been a few hours. They may respond soon. So Mike Godwin's reply is to slander Cade Metz. Cade didn't write your emails, Godwin. You did. Wikipedia's leaders are "inherently dishonest" based on literally a dozen incidents where its behaviour has been exposed off-WP. Consistently so. It's almost embarassing to watch the backtracking and mumbling all the way to the top of your rotten, scummy organisation. Jimbo has denied being involved.

Poof!QUOTE(Godwin) If David chose to challenge this impression in court, would the relevant ArbCom members be able successfully to defend it (assuming an English court had jurisdiction over them)?
There are really two issues here: was David Gerard punished fairly for a *substantive* violation of administrative standards, and has he been unfairly defamed by the implications of ArbCom's recent actions. My strong suggestion is that ArbCom reconsider its decisions, which seem more like arbitrariness than arbitration. His "strong suggestion." QUOTE(Godwin "as general counsel") I've been following this discussion, and it seems to me that the case for removing David Gerard's checkuser and oversight functions has not been made in any way that meets what I as a lawyer would characterize as due-process and evidentiary standards...
Please communicate to all involved my strong personal and professional preference that they reconsider this decision.
--Mike Godwin General Counsel Wikimedia Foundation
That's it, folks. WP now actually does do due process, and you've heard it from Godwin himself. So if you ever get into trouble with ArbCom or some other admin, the foundation's lawyer may mediate and broker a peace deal between them, and you. Very much unlike "Nutless Brad" Patrick, who never did anything for anybody. No more of this getting squashed by some rogue admin like a bug, and then gagged, like Wordbomb. And having some other admin (I can't quite member who this was) then block your whole ISP. As we see in the treatment of Gerard, it's now a kinder, gentler WP. This is in keeping with the mild and thoughtful edits of Gerard himself over the years, which have evidently worked their way about the soul of WP, so that it is now less inclined to be capricious and cruel in its treatment of editors. A good example of the Great Soul is never wasted. You see. It's the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius on WP, folks. I hope you apprectiate what you're seeing. It not unlike King Arthur and his round table. Our only problem is finding a bard worthy enough to sing the myth. Obviously that Cade cad Metz Mordred can't be allowed to define history, here. We need one of those guys that does books about WP...

Shades of Prussia, they left him a rubber-dart gun with ONE rubber dart in it, and expected him to do the honorable thing. And he did, and it's now sticking to his forehead right between the eyes.
