I've driven a motorcycle across Cuba, been a paparazzo in New York, worked at Enron in London, skydived over Italy and camped in the Amazon basin for a week to get over an intense fear of insects; it didn't work. "Shaping opinion" is just a euphemism for propaganda. Seems like prima facie evidence of extreme abuse/disruption either ongoing or future. Are the leaders of WP hunting down and killing the responsible parties in this case?

Shankbone's not a photographer. He's a financial manager and former commodities trade (former Enron UK, and somewhere in Spain, now manages the funds of two old New York families). Hu12.

In the fourth grade the nuns at my Catholic school told my mother in a parent-teacher conference I wanted them dead. I did not. I'm a big guy (6'3), athletic (185#), slim (32W x 34L) and pale (25% Irish/25% Dutch/50% German). I'm glad I'm getting older (wiser) and I disdain youth. I wear a suit to the office where I manage the assets of two of the founding families of New York City. I've moved 33 times amongst 3 countries (US, GB and ES), 6 states (NJ, GA, CO, TX, PA, NY) and 17 cities. Airline family, not military. Then it was me. Everything before NYC is forgotten. OK, this old version of his user page links to Eastern Airlines so I suppose he is saying his family worked for that company. I wonder why he retired on August 1?

Maybe he went to work for Eastern for a while after Enron tanked. Family connections or something, when the job goes south.

So it's no surprise that he was unable to provide an on-wiki proof that overstock was spamming WP.

Because we all know how neutral and unbiased hedge fund managers (and journalists who rely on them) are when it comes to Patrick M. Byrne, who's muckraking is making their lives a lot less profitable lately.

Good to hear that due process is alive and well on WP, and Captain Kangaroo Court, Jimmy Wales, doesn't have a problem with that.

anyone who "manages money" for a specific group of wealthy investors (most small hedge funds require clients to be "wealthy", the larger ones let in more of the hoi polloi) is a hedge fund manager, and Patrick Byrne is getting up in his grill

According to his Myspace profile he studied at University Of Colorado At Boulder 1994-96 and Fordham University - Lincoln Center 2004-2006. In his profile he doesn't say anything about being Jewish but someone has just posted
"So woohoo...going back to your mother land? " on his comments.

Well, hedge funds aren't the same animal as forwards and futures. (or to be more specific, futures and forwards are tools used by hedge fund managers).

There's nothing innately wrong with hedge funds, nor with forwards nor futures contracts. Futures are forwards are financial instruments, and hedge funds are, well, using them to "hedge" risk.

But they are subject to the same unregulated abuses, so yes.

I just love that David S. brags about being a former Enron employee. Only a true former Enron employee would be so deluded. Though you'd think with Skilling in jail and Lay having conveniently died before his long sentence could be implemented, the guy would be discreet about this sordid former employer. Saying you once worked at Enron is like saying you once worked at the BCCI.

By the way, I suggest you check David S's edit history for futures and forward, etc etc etc edits. I'm guessing there isn't much. Which might imply he split his interests between pleasure edits and edits about his expertise, with two accounts.
