Having spoken to him since his ban from here, I believe the former to be true, and I would not be surprised to find the latter to also be true.

And just to clarify, the reason we banned him wasn't for the right-wing hate-mongering itself, though we were certainly tempted on several occasions. We banned him for wasting our time, and taking advantage of our lenient tendencies, with a lame-assed "let's see how quickly can I get banned" experiment.

If I thought he might be capable of contributing something of value here though, I might just consider... naaah. smile.gif

This is excellent news. This might be of interest to some.

That's like a blueprint of fail right there. If you want to know the correct way to perform a hitjob on Wikipedia, you need look no further than your own RFC.

Eleventeen.

"Caknuck" is a portmanteau of "canuck" and "knuckles". I started using it 14 or so years ago on IRC when other users started using my preferred nick.

"Caknuck" is a portmanteau of "canuck" and "knuckles".

You should consider changing it to "Cack" ....... intransitive version, of course.

Lots of users were using the same name? That must have been very confusing. By the way, what's your opinion on the "Aitias is an arsehole" situation?

Due to a deliberate mispronunciation of one of my old roommates, I always associate "cack" with the second noun form.

I had been going by "knuckles" on efnet IRC from later 1994. By 1996, several other knuckleses popped up on the network, so I tried various alternates, including "knuckles-" and "canuck" until settling on "caknuck". It's stuck since then, and nobody else seems to want to bother trying to usurp it.

I had stepped AFK for a while after offering my explanation of the block. By the time I got back, the whole situation had devolved and I quickly realized that I had nothing constructive to add to the conversations.

Personally, I think everyone could have benefited if Aitias had stepped back and put the kerosene can down. Once my initial block occurred, he should have backed off. That being said, when RMHED countered with the "arsehole" comment, he only exacerbated the problem. Both of them should have, as seicer said, stopped down for a nice cup of tea. You can't let stupid online disputes become personal, and this whole mess started as a stupid, stupid dispute.

And now that RHMED's talk page has been unprotected to allow discussion of what caused the wiki-suicide, Aitias can't resist coming by to make sure anyone who knows what's going on is an involved admin, and thus incapable of an unblock.

Funny, that. I used to know a rather unpleasant character from the north of England who, after 14 or so pints of Broon and a couple of curries would always relapse into a writhing, screaming fit of uncontrollable laughter and exclaim "Oh fuck. I've just cacked me kecks". He was an idiot. But you can't deny the connection between cack and laughter, so my point still stands, whatever it was.

Depends on whether you would describe this sound as cackling. Could be an unusual consonant shift, more so than having a viper to vash your vindows, meaning he has in fact cashed his checks (at least that's what I'd hope he meant).

Sigh. There's more.

MZMcBride deleted RMHED's user and talk page are they invoked their "right to vanish" on 3 March.

RMHED labelled as the "likely" sockmaster of accounts creating pages such as Jimmy Wales; Is He a Thieving Cunt? on 5 March.

Seraphim revokes RMHED's right to have vanished because "RtV only applies to users in good standing".

Apparently vanishing and staying vanished are completely separate things.

Speaking of related stupidity:

Malleus Fatuorum (T-C-L-K-R-D) whipped out his junk and started thumping it on the foreheads of the sensitive in a bit of an uncivil fit a few hours ago. See the ANI thread.

Not speaking on the incivility myself, but I did find it humorous that Aitias (T-C-L-K-R-D) was just jumping at the opportunity to issue the block, as he noted more than once:
QUOTE("Aitias")
If diff-links are provided for the above personal attacks I am going to block straight away. — Aitias // discussion 12:14 pm, Today (UTC)
and
QUOTE("Aitias")
As I wrote above, if diff-links are provided, especially for "stick it up your arse", "laughing stock" and "Live with it bitch" I am going to block straight away. — Aitias // discussion 12:17 pm, Today (UTC)

But he was apparently too lazy to go look at the history or Malleus' contribs for the diffs. Instead missing the fact that the diffs had already been posted in reply to his first request, before he made the second.

And then we get this beautiful series of block log entries (read from bottom up):
  • 19:46, 6 March 2009 Coren (talk | contribs) blocked Malleus Fatuorum (talk | contribs) (account creation blocked) with an expiry time of 19:28, 9 March 2009 ‎ (Unblock was out of process, no wheel warring, please. Discuss the block, or bring the incident to a suitable forum.)
  • 19:38, 6 March 2009 Ddstretch (talk | contribs) unblocked "Malleus Fatuorum (talk | contribs)" ‎ (Blocking admin is involved (he/she interacted with Malleus and Malleus was brusque with him/her), the length was excessive, and no block notice was posted)
  • 19:28, 6 March 2009 Aitias (talk | contribs) blocked Malleus Fatuorum (talk | contribs) (account creation blocked) with an expiry time of 3 days ‎ (Personal attacks or harassment: and Incivility: cf. WP:AN/I: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?&oldid...ck_of_civility)

Also, further down the discussion, you'll see that TipToeTy (T-C-L-K-R-D) was in the process of indefinitely blocking Malleus. How completely stupid. The amount of high-quality contributions Malleus makes to the project is so far beyond the work these kids put in jacking up their edit count with Huggle... it just boggles the mind. Yes, he hurts your feelings. Best to kick his ass off the project, along with all the time he spend ... (wait for it) ... working on content!
But who needs content? "Without [it,] Wikipedia is just Facebook for ugly people." evilgrin.gif (Quote credit to Iridescent.)

Anyway, it's always amusing to see admins that don't understand what a wheel war is. They spew it out like they're up on their research, but then they look silly because it didn't happen. How is it not a personal attack by the standards of these overly sensitive editors to accuse an admin of wheel warring when no such warring has occurred? A wheel war, boys and girls, is when an admin action is overturned and then the overturned action is overturned. They can go on further from there. Simply overturning an admin's action =/= a wheel war. It's just impolite... and will get you desysoped if it has to do with ArbCom action, but I digress. Seriously, though. That's like saying someone is edit warring because they revert an edit. In this case, Coren (T-C-L-K-R-D) broke Wikipedia policy by wheel warring to restore the disputed block.
QUOTE("WP:WHEEL")
Do not repeat an administrative action when you know that another administrator opposes it.
But he's an Arb, so it's all good, right? (Read the subsection created by Coren and you'll see it is... at least according to him. He first says he did it not as an arb, but as an admin who happens to be an arb... but then he says he did it as an arb in the second and third paragraph of the same post... brilliant! wacko.gif )

So then there's pointless debate wherein Aitias refers to the unblock as "abusive", which is just wrong on so many levels. Glad to know this guy had such a peachy childhood that this is what he classifies as abuse. Lucky bastard. dry.gif
And then!, as if it weren't lulzy enough, an exchange of thinly veiled insults and polite incivility breaks out between Wehwalt and ... AITIAS! laugh.gif

To finish it off, it wouldn't be true drama if Durova didn't make an appearance. And she was even so polite as to apologize for being late... as if everyone expected her. Of course, we did all expect her, so I guess it's fair. rolleyes.gif
