Good on her, even if she got her money by doing unsavoury things at least it's going towards something nice now, I liked that she tacitly admitted Wikia is just a content farm (that encourages deletion of Wikipedia material to go to it and cover in ads like some kind of giant leech on Wikipedia) with her saying it is not "truly significant" even if she thinks it wil be in "years", I think that might be just one of those phrases you throw out in that kind of situation really - I think she knows it's never going to be more than an ad-leech on Wikipedia...

The interesting thing for me is this comes only two days after I commented that Wikimedia saying that there was only one link between the two boards was a lie, in the comments a few down there is this:

I have left the advisory board though I'll still be a Wikipedia admin and a member of Wikimedia Australia

I think the idea of Wikipedia is good, but it seems like either they need to make drastic changes to stop deleting such massive amounts of otherwise reliable stuff or a new webiste needs to be made that is more inclusive really... But it's just a question of how it would actually become successful in the face of Wikipedia's competition now, it's sad... this whole idea of "scope" is very POV and seems to be to encourage content flow to Wikia so they can get money running ads on it (none of which goes back to Wikipedia or the Wikimedia Foundation...):

no managerial links. The only relationship between the two is that Jimmy Wales, is the founder of the Wikimedia Foundation, and is also one of the founders of Wikia, Inc.

Seems like WMF is lying, unless Angela Beesley joined WMF *after* founding Wikia?

I am getting the feeling maybe her conscience got the better of her and she wanted to do more positive stuff... Seriously, I've seen people say a lot of bad stuff about them before but good on her (though yeah, it's easy to be charitable when you have your pockets filled and a lot of the damage Wikia has done is probably too late to change since removal of content to go to other places is pretty ingrained in Wikipedia culture now though the Wikimedia Foundation (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/hrmph.gif)).
