Amazon.com Inc. has invested an undisclosed amount of money in Wikia, the for-profit wiki information site founded by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales.

Amazon.com has invested in Wikia, the for-profit wiki company co-founded by Jimmy Wales, one of the brains behind online encyclopedia Wikipedia, the start-up said Wednesday. The Seattle online retailer did not disclose the size of its investment. On Wikia, communities gather virtually to create Web pages devoted to any subject.
