David Shankbone has accused journalist Seth Finkelstein of having a conflict of interest in reporting on Wikipedia and Jimbo Wales. According to Shankbone, Seth has a negative bias towards Wikipedia. Shankbone is even planning on contacting other journalists to report Seth's "conflict of interest."

Shankbone's gone to new lows.

Shankbone is the personification of something, yet I don't know what.

He returned from his trip to the Middle East with new pictures. I seem to recall he altered the Israeli-Palestinian Relations article (or something similar) to include a picture of Palestinian kids playing with toy guns!

He has written about how he was overcome by the urge to photograph a homeless woman changing her tampon on the street.

He used the clique/cabal/whatever to allow him to include his fake name on every image he files.

He added a picture of a male gay porn star with his hand wrapped around his penis, while waving, to the "wave" category or similar.

The list goes on and on. He's almost daring somebody to go through and find all the diffs and publish something about him...but perhaps that what he wants.

Wikipedia has a term which I cannot help associating with that guy.

"Look at me!" ME!! MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!"

He has written about how he was overcome by the urge to photograph a homeless woman changing her tampon on the street.

The tampon incident was absolutely disgraceful (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/angry.gif) Invading the privacy of a person like that for his own gratification - it's utterly disgusting. It's hard to know where to begin, really.

And he's repeatedly pimping that abyssmal, self-congratulatory blog on Wikipedia, again and again and again. I think the idea is to stir up controversy on some page, blog about it, sprinkle his link 'droppings' around afterwards then wait for the references to it appear and revel in the extra attention that the inbound connections are bringing. Anyone who's dealt with toddlers will know, BTW, that they have times when they demand attention and aren't too fussed whether it's "good" or "bad" (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/dry.gif)

I don't quite agree.

There is something fascinating about an unfortunate and mentally ill woman changing her tampon in the middle of a street. But whereas a more gifted poet might describe the grisly scene with appropriate sense of detachment and/or pathos, Shankbone offers only amateurish and lurid glee.

For more on this topic, refer to this thoughtful, if unpopular, analysis of the Shankbone-tampon incident, written by a WR poster wiser, slimmer and more handsome than I.

Not quite. For about half of the world (the female half) there is absolutely nothing fascinating about seeing a woman, (mentally ill or not) changing her tampon. Anywhere.
(I feel I´m writing the insanely obvious, here. Hey, Obesity, while I´m at it: 2+2= 4 (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/wink.gif) )

Isn't it sort of like seeing someone urinating in the street, but worse? If people happened to spot a homeless person urinating, they might giggle or be a bit revolted or whatever, but they would definitely not photograph it. Instead, they'd turn away a.s.a.p, partly out of manners.

Where others would turn away, Shank photographs. Such a love of bodily functions is admirable in a way. It could make unique art/photography, but probably shouldn't be encouraged.

Anyway, this picture always gives me a chuckle. How did he manage to find the only photographer with less technical abilities than himself? And how are his "Shankbone meets and greets" images even useful?

I like that picture. But look closely at Shanker's right forefinger. Is it stroking the weird old geezer's hand? And where, might I ask, is is left hand?

Yes, but mostly out of not wanting any urine splashing over their legs. I hate it when that happens.
