_ SlimVirgin _ Can we bring SV back here?

Posted by: It's the blimp, Frank

Is there some sort of incantation that will summon SlimVirgin/Hell Freezes Over to post here at the review? When she's here screeching like a banshee and denouncing everyone, this is a fun place, and people stop squabbling with each other and unite against a common foe.

She seems to feel it's safe enough when I go on holiday, but I missed my summer vacation this year — so be a nice, not a naughty kid and maybe you'll get a nice Christmas surprise.

As far as I know, this cannot be accomplished without a crane, and our crane budget is pretty much used up for this year.

Several sites have reported some success using nuclear submarines, but of course that's completely outside of our feasibility range.

I especially liked the part where she eventually made it plain that she thought LaRouchites had driven Jeremy Duggan to suicide (or maybe even pushed him into traffic). While all the while we were supposed to forget that she claimed to edit LaRouche articles (and ban LaRouche supporters) as an "uninvolved admin." angry.gif

yak.gif yecch.gif Once again, Wikipedia, thy name is hypocrisy.

The way to get Slimmy back here is to post a long and well-researched article on one or more of:

1) Her "WP:OWN"ed articles, lately The death of Ian Tomlinson (T-H-L-K-D) or one of her long-term favorites, like anything in Animal Rights;
2) Her increasing use of the ban-hammer without process;
3) Her back room politicking and meddling in Wiki-drama in general; or
4) Additional informed (or perhaps uninformed but plausible or salacious) speculation on her identity, background, and habits;

Even so, she might not rise to the bait. She seems to have taken a chill-pill shortly after her temporary de-frocking, and has only recently begun ramping back up toward her pre-humiliation levels of abuse.

Frankly, it is hard to tell whether Slim has gotten better or the entire rest of Wikipedia has gotten worse. The mostly plausible answer to that doesn't seem likely, and the likely answer doesn't seem plausible.

I've had some luck summonsing Wikipedians with atrocious song parodies.

Lessee what we got...

I would have suggested she needs a birdhouse in her soul, but she would need a soul first. dry.gif

I can't even remember the last time we discussed SV. It used to be The Slim Virgin Review for many years and now it seems she's yesterday's news. ohmy.gif

The difference between Slim Virgin and the Smallpox Virus is that the Smallpox Virus has been eradicated, rendering it currently less pernicious than Slim Virgin.

And because you said that, she's going to go crazy again and claim you outed her poodle. That or she'll join the Climate Change Arb case and make your life even more of a living hell, if that's possible. dry.gif hrmph.gif

Her social power, though, appears to have waned since she was temporarily desysopped. I don't know if she has the social capital to influence things like she used to.

I remember reading, in Scientific American, an article entitled "http://www.google.com/search?q=%22The+Eradication+of+Smallpox%22+%22Donald+A.+Henderson%22+%22Scientific+American%22+%22October+1976%22" explaining exactly how they did it. I still get goosebumps of admiration for the scientists who pulled off that astounding feat.

Yeah, but you're just one guy, aren't you? True, you're that one guy, but that doesn't necessarily make you, like, the guy. (Or does it?)

Anyway, I've been analyzing this problem for the last several hours, and I've concluded that comparing SlimVirgin to smallpox is most likely not the best way to convince her to return here as a participant. We might have slightly better luck with, say, an endocrine disorder (such as pheochromocytoma or even hyperparathyroidism) or perhaps a pulmonary disease such as Goodpasture's syndrome (T-H-L-K-D), which actually sounds sort of nice until you come down with it. Still, the best results might actually be obtained by not comparing her to any disease whatsoever. I realize this may seem counterintuitive to some of our members...

Smallpox is not even listed on http://www.iawareables.com/shopping/neckties_showroom.htm anymore.

You're right; we should not insult the noble smallpox virus by comparing it to Slimey.
For one thing it is a more gracious loser.

Oh, I don't know. So far her input has been apt. And helpful. IMHO anyway. If SV points out there's a cabal, er, faction, active in an area, and describes their antics, er, tactics... seems to me that's pretty compelling evidence there is one in and of itself.

Exactly. Comment on the contributions, not the contributor, and all that. There's no need for comparing people to diseases.

What about comparing them to trolls? Is that still kosher?

SV interfered mightily on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Alternative_text_for_images and drove away at least one long time editor.[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Eubulides. IMO, very damaging.

Indeed. If only Wikipedia editors, admins, and other functionaries would do the same, there would be less need for this Review.

And that is why the whole hate the game, baby, not the playas notion fails in practice.

In all fairness, though, I never thought Slim Virus was ever the root of all Wiki-evil.
A nasty piece of work to be sure, who really needs to eat some red meat and get laid. But others are much more worthy of the title and The Review has devoted far more attention to her than she truly deserves. Largely because she is an easy, high profile target who fights back and manages to piss off all the wrong people.

Human history is a battle over resources, for your "family" and your genes. Anybody else who wants some of those resources, is likely to be seen as a disease. People lie to themselves about this, all the time.

One of the more ironic moments in The Matrix comes when Mr. Smith, who is himself the ultimate parasite (turns out in the end he's a parasite program of a parasite program), likens humanity to a "virus." biggrin.gif Gosh, we really make Mr. Smith sick. yak.gif

I never said that either. But every time she's shown up here, she's displayed a remarkably arrogant and thickheaded demeanor, and a talent for being totally convinced of her rightness and everyone else's wrongness. Every attempt to "discuss" an issue with her, so far as I can remember, has come to naught--people give up in frustration, and she goes away just as smug as ever.

Remember when she was http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=21334for six months? She came to WR, and http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=23773 a http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=23681 of herself.
As soon as her admin power was restored, she ditched WR and went right back to her maniac Wiki-muddling.

I never said you did, either.
When she lost her admin wand for a very rare display of doing the right thing by undoing a punitive Giano block, I held out slim hopes that she had pulled a Kelly or Danny and escaped from the Compound. As usual, my optimism proved short-lived.

Perhaps a more pertinent way to frame this discussion would be-
Is SV and her like a virus and Wikimedia just the petri dish that allows them to thrive?
Or are they merely the symptoms and WP is the disease?

I'd say both of those analogies are rather tortured, but to each his own...

I still prefer the "lake of shit" analogy, since you can differentiate between people who are submerged, or "hip-deep," or just "getting their feet wet" (or dirty, as the case may be). Also, the people themselves don't have to be the actual shit, etc., etc.

Diseases are basically just cells that reproduce and attach themselves to living organisms to do it. I figure many Wikipedians probably try to reproduce, and I'm sure some of them succeed at it (not that this is necessarily something to be proud of), but you've got to believe that a signifcant percentage are using artificial insemination to get the job done.
