Well, I'm all for it. OrangeSnarlin always guarantees "max dram" and, hopefully, a major shite-fest can't be very far off now. Wonderful.

I'm all for it too. You only have to look at the man BEFORE he decided on this new 'let's be rude' policy. At a recent RFA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:RFA#S.40bre

we have 66 strong supports and, er, OrangeMarlin.

QUOTE

Strongest possible oppose If you want to revert vandalism, you don't have to be an admin. But if you're going to give bogus answers like you did to important issues confronting Admins today, then there's no reason for you to be an admin. At least you answered honestly, but we don't need another kid who has a fetish for video games working around here. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:18, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

You want to be a little more specific? By the way, I own four classic arcade machines, and I'm 46 next month. Deal with it. Duck, I'm swinging my mop.--Wehwalt (talk) 19:34, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I have a policy of not engaging in any further discussions about a nominee unless I find them particularly despicable. I don't have to deal with anything dude. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 19:54, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm sure the closing crat will take that for what it is worth. And what it is worth and three bucks gets you a cup of coffee at Starbuck's.--Wehwalt (talk) 21:22, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Although you're entitled to your opinions to my suitability, I don't appreciate being referred to as "another kid who has a fetish for video games". I realise that the area most of my past work is in involves what some people may see as the bastard-child of the arts and technology, and don't see them as traditional encyclopedia topics, but that has no affect on my judgement. I'm also somewhat past the stage of being a "kid". -- Sabre (talk) 23:10, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Don't sweat it, Sabre. OrangeMarlin has a tendency to post rather intemperate opposes. Just his style, I guess. I'm sure all the crats discount such things as a matter of course.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

People on WP and even here bemoan and complain about 'the drama'. I think the quality of the drama is quite good.

Brilliant. I look forward to watching this play out.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Very nice of you all. I'll probably be back sooner or later, and I doubt I can go totally cold turkey, but I need a break. The alternative is go out in a blaze of glory, which I'm not quite ready to do yet. In the past, I've refocused on relaxing and uncontroversial areas when I've gotten fed up, but I'm just not feeling it at the moment. Happens. MastCell Talk 04:00, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

No mate! Go for the blaze of glory button!

Good grief. It's too bad that FT2 screwed up the ArbCom case against OM, because otherwise his behavior might be under control by now. I'd say it's just a matter of time before he's brought before the Committee again. I don't think the new Committee will be as likely to impose some vague "mentorship" by JPGordon as a remedy.

Ugh. The time lost on that failed case. That could have been so good if done right.

I don't see any evidence that anything ArbCom does leads to improved future behavior of the many miscreants who come before the bar.

As I read the record, the treatment that people receive at the hands of ArbCom and lesser officials is ineffective at best and counter-productive at worst.

SV seems to have turned over a new leaf (based on e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk%3AAyn_Rand&diff=264485384&oldid=264461665) but anyone have any recent counter-examples to bring to her attention here wink.gif

After her recent http://antisocialmedia.net/lecture1/player.html in that Wordbomb presentation thing I'd be surprised if she shows her face here or anywhere else again. Not that she ever showed her face, of course, but you know what I mean.

Regarding OrangeSnarlin - I wonder how he'd react to a spot of good old Maoist cultural-revolutionist criticizing? Say, someone starts a thread on his talkpage entitled "OrangeSnarlin, We Hate Your Guts And You Are An ARSE!" after which everyone piles in and states all the reasons why they can't stand him? I think he'd take it like a man and behave well afterwards no problem. Really.

That's a more direct, simplified version of an RfC. It might work.

MastCell has been "leaving" since... 2009? He has had some sign on his user page bemoaning his trials and tribulations on wikipedia, talking about taking a break, retiring, leaving, whatever for a long time (years, I guess).

and yet, going into 2011, he is still an administrator with all the associated extended powers.

The public martyrdom is getting a bit worn at the edges, imo. He should leave for real, or quit talking about it.

Old topic is old.

I personally think divas like Mastcell should be ignored. He'll never really leave, and paying no attention to him whenever he storms out in a huff will be much better for him in the long term.
