Just saw this on AN. Too bad it was closed, but NE2 is protesting Durova & a subwikiproject split's from the US Roads WP.

Drama over the stupidest things, it never fails to amaze. I wish an edit war would start up to toss this thing on WP:LAME.

Do you Wiki-Hypnotized Gerbils really expect anyone else on the Planet to read more than a half a line of something like that with no advanced organizer as to why they ought to give a gerbil's ass about it?

I'd hope that someone in this subforum would have an interest in either the utter stupidity of the Wikipedia bureaucracy or it's ineffectualness...this is an example of the former, so...

And Jon, seriously. I haven't edited Wikipedia in any serious fashion in 3 years, nor do I ever plan on returning to it. I'll use my knowledge somewhere where I'll get a better ROI for me. I'm more interested in chronicling the social progress of it's death spiral.

I was just about to come here and start a thread on this myself. This is one of the strangest things I've seen in Wikipedia. NY State Routes secedes from WP:Roads. A few of the Roads members go ape and try to get WP administrators to stop it. Along with the two recent ArbCom cases involving some of these guys, this is perhaps the best example of what can happen when a wikiproject goes off the deep end. I didn't realize that there was a RoadCab.

Well, let's just say that it's way too late in the day to be hit in the face with one of those ANIL Retentive Pages, that I waited a whole minute to load — okay, I tabbed over to some other piece of work and came back and it was still loading — at least without a 20-grade entrance ramp and a Warning! Slow Trucks Merging! sign to advise the hapless readster.

Meh. This is pretty much par for the course for USRD ("The Roadsters"). Now, if you are looking for a sure fire cure for insomnia, even better than The Compleate Writings of FT2, read some of the pages re their periodic wars over templates, formatting or "naming conventions". Those are ones where you can expect their self-appointed Autobahnenfuehrer, Teenage Mutant Wiki-Admin™ Rschen7754, to be especially active.

Were it not for the fact that they nearly always seem to be fighting over crap that no one but they give a rip about (see this recent ArbCom non-decision decision), I think they would have a decent shot at generating as much dramahz as the Anti-ID or Pro-Pedo sub-cabals.

UPDATE: Last Saturday, after successfully quelling the rebellion of the New York roads project, Der Autobahnenfuehrer posted one of those "I'm leaving for a while" messages to his talk page. Interestingly, he soon thereafter appended a link to this very thread. I will admit that that surprised me. I always had assumed that the roadsters were too busy fighting one another, and fending off those NOTB from "their" articles, to ever take any notice of WR.

Needless to say, and in typical Teenage Mutant Wiki-Admin™ fashion, he never actually stopped editing WP and doesn't appear to be slowing down. I guess he's still too busying making arrangements to send carpetbaggers to New York.
