Sigh. This one event with a few topless females gets an article, whereas many, many larger and more naked events altogether get a smaller one, such as Clothing-optional bike ride. Incidently, the last one mentions (as one of many events) the extraordinary "Critical Tits" ride at Burning Man, where every year thousands of naked or half-naked women ride Godiva-like through the Black Rock Desert. happy.gif

If the Iranian clerics are correct that this kind of thing causes earthquakes, northern Nevada would have had a Richter 9.2 long ago.

There's something so similarly puritanical about fundamentalists everywhere, no matter what religion they spawn from. They all seem to fundamentally hate sex, the human body, and human freedom. Oh how I wish I could put them in stocks in a nudist colony for two hours a day until they GET OVER IT.

How enlightened of the Shallow Man to lift up his silly pseudo-religion and take a gratuitous shot at people who a have religion they actually believe in. This is the path to World Peace.

Fundamentalists who have a religion they can actually believe in, is the path to world peace? blink.gif

rolleyes.gif Forget the Crusades. In the last decade, did I miss something? Perhaps in YOUR universe a bunch of rabid atheists hijacked jetliners and flew them into buildings, and then our atheist president invaded some bystander country in the name of secular humanism? Let me tell you, it didn't happen that way in mine.

You know, the happy pagans at Burning Man don't burn a REAL man. Or any books, either. That kind of stuff is historically what True Believers do.

You think a person who arranges for permission for an image of herself to be used on WP is being trolled? Who do you think started the article?

She didn't start it, JoshuaZ did--as a redirect to Boobquake. Then an IP address turned it into a
very small article, then Disavian (T-C-L-K-R-D) wrote 90% of the present article.

And as you see in her blog, she didn't like the end-result but didn't have the guts to change it herself, because COI! COI!

All of this is stupid. The articles, the arguments over the articles, the subject's reaction to the articles,
the publicity she http://www.blaghag.com/2010/04/watch-me-on-bbc-canada-am-wgn-and-cnn.html, and especially the collapsed part of the AFD. Gamaliel rides again.

QUOTE
Given the presumption that most of her readers are sympathetic, I'm afraid it's also possible that Miss McCreight is engaging in off-site canvassing. Agricola44 (talk) 15:17, 14 October 2011 (UTC).
BLP discussions are not appropriate forums for speculative allegations against the subject of the article. Gamaliel (talk) 16:21, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, but WP:CANVAS is routinely called-out in all AfDs, whenever it is detected, although I'll note that I did not make an accusation. I only raised the possibility – because this case is unusual in that we do not typically have web-savvy subjects commenting on their own AfDs off-site in real time. I don't know whether you've read the blog post. But there is, in fact, a suggestive excerpt written by Miss McCreight, "It’s also weird finding things wrong with my article and not being able to fix it, due to the rules about not editing stuff where you have conflicts of interests. I won the Undergraduate Student Research Award from the American Society of Mammlogists, not Microbiologists! And then there are other awards I’ve won that don’t have documentation available on the internet, and therefore get lost in No Citation land. Oh well." This passage expresses dissatisfaction with the situation and supplies information to presumably sympathetic readers who could get involved in this AfD. If this were her intention, it would absolutely be considered canvassing. I don't think it's possible to know, but I think we should ask Miss McCreight, if she is reading this, for the courtesy to reserve any further comments on her own blog regarding this AfD until after it closes. Thanks, Agricola44 (talk) 16:40, 14 October 2011 (UTC).

Since you've used your response to expand on your allegation tenfold, I've collapsed this discussion. Commenting on something is not canvassing, correcting errors is not canvassing. When the subject of the article actually does something that constitutes canvassing, you can call it out here. Until then, please keep unsubstantiated speculation regarding living individuals to yourself. Thank you. Gamaliel (talk) 17:25, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry that you've mis-interpreted legit AfD discussion (twice now) as "allegation". If it makes you feel better to obscure this from others, so be it. Best, Agricola44 (talk) 18:48, 14 October 2011 (UTC).

An http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/205.208.121.50 started the article on McCreight, although you are correct that JoshuaZ created the actual page with that name. Where is McCreight from again? Oh yeah - Chicago. That IP just happens to locate to the University of Chicago. And someone claiming to be McCreight madehttp://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Boobquake&diff=prev&oldid=359757738 using an IP that locates to Schaumberg, Illinois. I'm also assuming that the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/76.28.156.127 that added her birthday was her or someone who knows her very well. I think you misread the situation.

Posted by: EricBarbour

Perhaps, but the whole thing is still stupid. And I still think a few of those nerds are trolling her.

Posted by: The Joy

I figured she would be known more for her atheist activism than Boobquake? While Wikipedians yell about COI and whatnot, she can still take part and offer her opinion. Seeing as the AFD has http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Jennifer_McCreight&diff=455555185&oldid=455552583. I'm not seeing anyone trying to get a positive dialogue between the Wikipedia Community and Jennifer McCreight. hrmph.gif

I'm against BLP articles since the Wikipedia Community can't properly maintain and defend them. However, if Jennifer McCreight has no objections to the article, I can begrudgingly accept it. Unfortunately, it does not look like even that will happen. dry.gif sad.gif

Let me tell you Wikipedians something. Jennifer McCreight is a force to be reckon with. She has a strong reader and follower base as well as powerful friends in the atheist community. If she really hates her BLP article and calls Wikipedia out on it, you all are going to be in for a world of anguish and misery ten-times worse than your wars with Daniel Brandt and ColScott combined. mad.gif

So, uh, you think that McCreight's friends might have a problem with her BLP? Let's check out a couple of the comments from her blog post:

There’s a project by Susan Gerbic over at http://guerrillaskepticismonwikipedia.blogspot.com/ to make sure skeptics have up to date wikipedia articles. I’d give her a shout and see if she can’t add you to her to-do list.

Thank you Ethan!

Jennifer mentioned this on a blog a month or so ago, her followers really came together and helped out her page. As Ethan says I am trying to mobilize a editing “army” that will write/improve ect Wikipedia pages for critical thinking. The project is really important, Wikipedia is an amazing resource, we can’t ignore it. Seize these paranormal pages back from the woo that tries to change edits into promotional nonsense for themselves.

We also need to have the backs of our skeptical spokespeople which is exactly where Jennifer’s WP page falls. How can we ask the non-skeptical world to respect Jennifer (and others) if we don’t respect them enough to maintain their page?

My to-do list is pages and pages long. Please add her and others to YOUR list.

Please join me. If you want to remain just a part of the skeptical community, then fine, continue bitching over your beer at the next skeptics in the pub. But when you are ready to join the Skeptical Movement and you think editing Wikipedia might be just up your alley then visit my blog for ideas.

Then let's have a look at the Guerrilla Skepticism on Wikipedia blog. Here's http://guerrillaskepticismonwikipedia.blogspot.com/2011/07/we-got-your-wiki-back-page-makeovers.html mentioning the "makeover" of (among others) McCreight's article. I don't know where people are getting the idea that this is an unwelcome BLP or that McCready and her supporters will be weighing in to delete the BLP that they themselves created. This isn't a tempest in a teapot, it's an imaginary tempest in an imaginary teapot.

Indeed. People who instigate semi-pointless giant public demos in which they show off their tits are not likely to be upset about a WP BLP. These are people who live to be the center of attention, no matter what kind of attention.
