When it gets to day 400, I think helecopters and marines will be sent out.

What's with the Mexican flag?

What's with the Mexican flag?

She is from San Diego and thought it adequately represented the politics of her community.

But anyway, she appeared on Commons during my scuff up but was away before then for a while. She has not appeared on Skype, so I don't even know if WikiVoices is still up. Last time I know, she had real life cat problems and had a new guy, but that was back in March or so.

She is on Facebook with that damn Farmville game. So we know she hasn't completely melted.

Hellifino. Award probably designed by some Mexican dude. I took the image off Durova's site, and it's 3 MB even converted to bitmap.

This woman has a fetish for images. I recommend she not convert to Islam.

If a splash of water didn't do it, Farmville will do the job soon enough. At least to her brain. sad.gif

That's fascinating. So she's online in some rudimentry fashion, but not on WP.....

I'm going to waste my one post in whatever amount of oppressive time limit to say that the above was rather funny.

I am slightly drunk, but yeah, it was amusing.

I never understood why Durova needs to have images that are over 100 megs. When she tried convincing me to do image work, there were files so huge my laptop would crash because it couldnt handle the size. Seriously, wtf. She is obsessed with large files.

There are so many jokes that could be made about that last part. Blah.

Sort of reminds me of that line from the Jacques Brel song "Jackie": I'd have to get drunk every night / to talk about virility / with some old grandmother who might / be decked out like a Christmas tree."

Ottava, have you considered becoming a cabaret singer? You'd probably do a killer job on the Brel songbook. ("Killer" in a good way, of course.) smile.gif

Well, whatever happened to Durova, I can only see her disappearance as a bonus to wikipedia.

Heh heh heh. She's playing Farmville.
A suitable fate for a dull drone.

(Mebbe we should stop talking about her, or she'll find out and
stage a comeback! The horror, the horror!)

This is a great suggestion. It fits you, Ottava!

I could almost believe that Facebook addiction is primarily responsible for Durova's "disappearance." And Farmville is so popular now that http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9178578/Mozilla_updates_Firefox_to_crush_Farmville_complaints because Farmville was crashing their (recently auto-updated) browsers. She also stated that there was a death in her family in early May, I believe - that coincided with her going from 5-10 edits per day to only one or two. Sometimes an event like that can make you re-evaluate your whole lifestyle. (And my condolences to her, of course, if she ever reads this.)

Then again, who knows? She may just have decided to wait the requisite three months, after which she'll come back with a new account and go for adminship again. (Assuming she hasn't already done that.)

I suppose it would be better not to speculate too much about it... bored.gif

As usual, I couldn't figure out what the heck she was going on about. She probably just misses the dramahs.

It's not an unprecedented stunt. A whole bunch of users who think that they have been wrongly sanctioned for something or other go and make some minor non-controversial edits which are just on the borderline of their sanction and then run to AE and file a report on themselves to show the whole goddamn universe, aliens on Alpha Centauri and all, how unfair the sanction is. It's basically a big flashing sign saying "Look at me! Look at me! Hey guys! You're not looking at me!?!?"

Russavia (who some of you have had the pleasure of meeting here on WR) pulled it twice I think. Communicat (who you've also made acquittance with) tried something almost similar but was just too crazy to be able to pull something as "delicate" as this.

Now, if any of these whining drama queens actually had the balls to go and do a non-minor controversial edit which is way over the line of their sanction, then maybe they'd earn some respect from me. Still I thnk they should get banned for it - as should Durova here and all who proceeded her in these idiotic endeavors - and in a way that's the whole point - don't go crying out for attention unless there is a real risk of getting hurt, or else this attention seeking is not credible - but it would be a "ban with respect" kind of a ban.

And of course AE is a perfect place for that kind of thing.

I was going to send her 10 chickens, which are of course immortal so you don't have to grieve when they die. FarmVille tomatoes may spoil, but not chickens.

Then I forgot. huh.gif ermm.gif

Now where the hell did those chickens go?

Unless Walling is transitioning to living as a woman, I would suggest he consider a different hairstyle. Wait a minute, this is WP we're talking about - congratulations, Steven, on your first steps toward your new life!

Now, now. Walling could simply be a time traveler from the UK circa 1975. Possibly having discovered The Doctor's tardis and made off with it.

I suspect the proportion of transgendered people on WP might actually be less than in the general population. Those guys and gals probably get enough exposure to bullies in real life.

Online services like Wikipedia are, or at least appear, attractive to marginalized persons. The ability to conceal one's minority status means one will presumably not be harassed for it, and Wikipedia's bully culture gives them the opportunity to be the bully instead of the victim. Your rationale is also inconsistent with decades of studying of bullying, which has consistently indicated that a significant portion of adult bullies and abusers were the victims of bullying in childhood; having been bullied is at least somewhat predictive of becoming a bully in later life.

I've known enough transgendered folk to know a significant proportion take standing up to bullies as a challenge, not something to be feared.

is Durova the admin from ED? that article was hilarious.

Looks like she ended up on the wrong side of an ArbCom decision? That's a shame. Not many editors can persist through that kind of treatment.
