there is also Admins who claimed to be open to recall until someone wanted to recall them, so they changed their recall criteria to be so strict that they ultimately became impossible to achieve

Posted by: Malleus

There should also be a list of admins who promised to be open to recall at their RfAs, but just never got around to it somehow.

I propose we merely refer to them as 'elonkated.'

The lead-off batter here surely would be Navou a.k.a. Mercury a.k.a. var. al. nom.—or need I re-tell that story?

Times like these I wish Rootology's project was still up and running. I really should see about getting an account over at wikitruth.info, or perhap$ $tarting my own BAD$ITE.

Yes, because ArbComics is not ludicrous enough.

Snappy!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wikipedia_administrators_open_to_recall is a laff-riot. And a good example of WP's misgovernanace.

Look at some of the names on the list.
  1. Elonka...well, you know all about that thing.....
  2. Herostratus, notorious pedophile POV-pusher, is apparently in prison right now for possessing child pornography. Has anyone tried to revoke his adminship?
  3. GlassCobra? What an http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=28077.
  4. http://wikipediareview.com/index.php?showtopic=25934 for Friday.
  5. Nishkid64, famous juvenile banhammer.
  6. Plus a number of people I personally find distasteful: Chillum, Bisanz, Tiptoety, NW.
If Wikipedia were not an ugly joke, those freaks
(and probably a few more freaks on the open-to-recall list)
would have already been recalled.

Now that's class. Eight days between "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Tbsdy_lives&diff=next&oldid=338458121" and "http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Tbsdy_lives&diff=340214225&oldid=340214096" has got to be some kind of record.

For those of us not so close to the pulse of seething drama, please relate! I'm always up for story time smile.gif

Hey, I haven't changed my recall in years, and I think it's pretty simple! On the other hand, since ArbCom has gotten more active in enforcing "under the cloud"-type remedies, I'm not sure mine is as relevant as it once was--or ever was, as back in the day I'm not sure I had ever been in a situation where someone would even try to get me sacked.

Part of the issue is even well-meaning admins don't immediately realize how easy it would be for the trolls to game the system. So either they renege because it's an obviously-bad-faith request, or they change their rules to something stricter, making it near impossible from a practical standpoint. Either way it's not that effective.

Translation from Wikipedese: "I am perfect, therefore anyone who opposes me is a troll, therefore I only need to listen to people who agree with everything I say or do".

Have a read of http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AElonka&diff=231067230&oldid=231019991 to see the well-oiled machine that is the recall process in action.

I think Eva's description of Tsbdy's statement was over-the-top, speaking as someone who spends some time cracking wise.
He was being poked at by Hipocrite about a section on his user page, where he opined that administrators should be open to recall, (the struck-out part), followed by:
"I've had a rethink about recall. I think it's pretty useless, most recall criteria is necessarily strict to stop frivilous recalls, but unfortunately this also means that they would never pass, even should the admin be totally misbehaved. IMO, an RFC/U does the job just as well. There is no evidence that terrible admins haven't had their admin flags removed in the past."

Which is a reasonable statement. I am no supporter of Tsbdy's antics, but this time he was unfairly slammed.

Whatever the the hell this "incident" and his current living arrangements are, he appears in http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=343196318&diff=prev to imply that another person has access to his account.

This is sufficient basis to de-sysop him and block his account until further notice, I think.

Damn, I wish I hadn't clicked your link, which led in turn to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Zichy_Mih%C3%A1ly_rajz.jpg (safe for work - just - although you may get funny looks). Anyone care to explain how the Sum Of All Human Knowledge is improved by that? My apologies for ever doubting anyone who ever mentioned just what a cesspool that place is becoming.

Right to ArbCom. I'm going to shoot them an email.

Not linked to an article on en.wiki. On wiki.de it's linked to Kindesmisshandlung which I guess is clear enough. But is that old guy wearing a yarmulke? huh.gif Perhaps they missed that on wiki.de. ermm.gif So 1890's Hungarian eroticism is a little more complicated than we thought....

So herostratus has removed that nasty picture. Isnt that a good edit?

Not sure what point youre making but theres nothing odd in a late 19th century East European schoolteacher wearing a skullcap.

Ahem, now I was recalled at Wikipedia:Administrators_open_to_recall/Past_requests#MBisanz and let the process run its course without complaint or withdrawal, so I do object to the appellation.

I suppose the new community deadmining proposal is an improvement over this charade of voluntary recall. Too bad it is doomed by the constipation of consensus.

I don't get it. Did somebody lock the database or did http://wikitruth.info/index.php?title=Special:Listusers users somehow agree to stop editing? Are they all the same person or what?

Guess you have more will than they did.
Best as I can figure they simply lost interest...it was not that surprising really-updates became fewer and farther between. It is hard to top a story like Marsden and besides they had been at since March 06.
