Dear Readers of Wikipedia Review

For long-time readers of Wikipedia Review, there is no doubt apparent to each of you that the site has suffered a severe decline since March 2012. Without going into specifics that may re-open old wounds, I must regretfully inform you all that the likelihood of the site ever returning to its former pre-March 2012 glory is non-existent. Registration has been shut down since April 2012 and moderation has become virtually non-existent as the forum only has one major staff/mod member left. All attempts to negotiate for more mods/staff and reviving registration have failed. As a former mod and contributor to this forum, I am saddened by this state of affairs and I apologize to you readers who have come to this site expecting high-level discussion and criticism. With all the major contributors gone and registration halted, all that remain are a few trying to keep some semblance of sanity and decorum alive. We not-so-happy few have failed in this endeavor while others who continue to post have derailed topics, engaged in pointless arguments, and further deteriorated an already decaying forum.

The bright hope of Wikipedia Review now is that it will hopefully remain an archive displaying an attempt by its posters to document and critique the inherent flaws of Wikipedia. I invite you all to peruse the pre-March 2012 topics and posts to see our forum's valiant attempts from reforming Wikipedia to showing the world why Wikipedia should not be trusted. Please ignore the posts of the current resident dunderheads and their ceaseless rants and/or whining!

I can only speak for myself, but I thank you all for reading this forum. For nearly 6 years, I have contributed to this forum and, despite some bumps and bruises on the journey, I enjoyed my time here. I realize now, though, that any hope of getting this forum back up to par is nil. Except to admire the archives or find some WR-only information, I shall not be coming back nor will I answer any personal messages on this forum. I may answer some posts in this thread, but then I shall move on to a place that discusses Wikipedia and its on-going indiocracy.

Further correspondence with me can be done at: joywr(at)gmail.com. I do not always check that account religiously, but I shall try to check it from time-to-time. If I do not respond in a timely manner or at all, please do not take it personally.

Good luck to all of you in your future endeavors.
The Joy

I have to say that I originally came here looking for some help in understanding why what happened to me at WP happened, but pretty much all I experienced was bashing and abuse. I'd like to think that the bashing and abuse happened by the "resident dunderheads" you are referring to. I think the truth is, however, that said abuse came from those whose opinions here have been revered and appreciated.

And because of that, I see this forum as never having been any different than the untrustworthy Wikipedia. And that's seriously too bad. There was potential for this website to do some good in regard to opening the eyes of the internet public to what Wikipedia is really about. In the end, it was one of the best advertisements FOR Wikipedia.

In my opinion, anyway...

Negotiation implies two way communication. Last I heard from Selina was around the time she gave Somey the boot and restored all of my messages, messaging ability, etc. that he stripped away for petty reasons.

The place wouldn't be so bad if the Poetlister accounts were cleaned up. Oddly enough, she use to be vigilant about them. I guess their getting the boot from the othersite forced them into a mental need to post on multiple identities here. It would be odd if it was just Poetlister talking to Poetlister's many accounts. I saw enough of that on Wiki.

The Joy, why is it that you post things over at the other site yet never here before you posted this message? Just lack of faith or possibly being part of the problem? tongue.gif
