After all, what's the difference between promoting articles on self-important arseholes like Jim Hawkins (radio presenter) and companies who're just trying to make a living?

I'll bet whoever answers it will either be a numbskull spammer as well, or get yelled at for telling them spamming is illegal on Wikipedia.
