Remember your basic instructions: you have a total of 3 points to award to DICK contestants. You may award all three to one candidate by voting for that person as both DICK and runner-up, or you may divide them by giving 2 to a DICK candidate and 1 to a runner-up. The winner will be the contestant with the highest combined point total. You must cast one vote in every category. The last selection is the equivalent of a "pass."All other categories are more straightforward: you have one vote for each category. Use it wisely. Here, for any N00bs, are the definitions for each category: WP:DICK of Distinction -- for all-around rottenness by an admin The Tag-Team Event (see Wikipedia:Tag team) Miss Incongeniality, for original and flamboyant violations of Wikipedia:CivilityVexatious Litigant, for the person who just can't get enough of those noticeboards and arbitration cases and for the good guys... the Straight Shooter award for honest admins and the Cojones de latón, for the non-admin who has distinguished himself in combat with the cabal Click here for a history of this exalted competition, if you need the back-story. All set? Let's vote! Keep it clean. Winners will be announced after the voting peters out in about 10 days.

QUOTE(Alison @ Thu 3rd February 2011, 6:46am) Porn protection cabal is streaking into the lead, I see.
I hope they're having full frontal shots taken of their streaking. That would be vital encyclopedic material. (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/mellow.gif)

QUOTE(Herschelkrustofsky @ Thu 3rd February 2011, 3:29pm) Interesting... for the first time, several members in good standing of the Review are making a strong showing in the Bad Guys categories.
Are you talking about Ottava? (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/biggrin.gif) On another note: I think this year is a first (?): neither Jayjg or SlimVirgin have been nominated in any category. See, what happen when we do not have our normal piñatas to kick: we run around like headless chicken (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/tongue.gif)

And they're off! In early polling, Cirt leads the pack with 19 points, followed by Sandstein with 14 points, GeorgeWilliamherbert with 11, and the Review's own Lar with 10. The Porn Protectors have established themselves as the team to beat in the tag event, while the Review's own Ottava owns Miss Incongeniality with 12 votes, followed by IronDuke and Tarc with 6 each. The Vexatious Litigant race is wide open with the Review's own Abd leading Baseball Bugs, Cyclopedia and FT2 by a narrow margin. In the Straight Shooter event, Scott MacDonald née Doc glasgow looks unstoppable with Will Beback practically calling him a Scientologist at Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Scientology. And finally for Cojones de latón, perennial favorite Cla68 has an early lead, but MZMcBride is breathing down his neck with only a one vote margin between them. No. Maybe I am a Scientologist - or maybe I just don't think we should describe everyone who once went to a Scientology meeting as "evil cultist bastard" on their BLP? Anyway, can I put in his early nomination for next year's "Vexatious Litigant"?

I've got a feeling most of the top contenders are the types to see being reviled by WR as a 'badge of honor' or something. (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/yecch.gif) This post has been edited by JayT:

you can't polish a turd. On the other hand, note that David Gerard has actually backed Scott up. Time for a 5-minute moratorium on Gerard-bashing?

QUOTE( @ Sun 6th February 2011, 5:21pm) Cirt has now emerged as the dominant contestant for WP:DICK
That's scarcely surprising, given all the publicity there's been for his anti-Scientology antics. (Not that I'm exactly pro-Scientology myself, I stress.) QUOTE Meanwhile, Ottava is still the man to beat in the Miss Incongeniality category
Let's give Ottava all praise when he deserves it. He's run a staggeringly good and determined campaign for the honour. Look at this thread for example. How could even IronDuke compete? This post has been edited by Gruntled:

Miss Incongeniality going to Ottava isn't really a surprise given the primary voter base here, but I voted for TenPoundHammer. Looks unlikely that he'll be able to pull ahead at this point, but he'll always be the biggest, craziest diva to me. I mean ... the otters? Come on!
I find it interesting that I get votes along with those I've disputed with - Abd, FT2, Porn Cabal, etc. Fun. Why is that interesting? The list of people you haven't been a dispute with is, after all, vanishingly small. (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/tongue.gif)

Wow, MZMcBride really has elastic balls! (IMG: smilys0b23ax56/default/rolleyes.gif) I haven't been following, what was Cla68's reason for being in that section? Cla68 has been a stalwart foe of WikiKorruption for some time now, and has won the Cojones de latón honors for the past two years running. MZMcBride may have been a bit of a dark horse -- I haven't followed his exploits on-Wiki, but he clearly has many members of the Academy in his camp. Meanwhile, Georgewilliamherbert is putting on the steam, leaving Sandstein behind in the runner-up DICK contest. Could he still give Cirt a run for their money? And don't rule out the Climate Changers for tag-team -- they still pose a credible challenge to the Porn Protectors. Meanwhile, the Vexatious Litigant event has got everyone on the edge of his seat. At the moment, FT2 has acquired a 1 vote lead over Abd and Baseball Bugs, but this race has been full of surprises, and no contestant can claim a decisive advantage at this juncture.

QUOTE(Herschelkrustofsky @ Tue 8th February 2011, 2:12pm) The Vexatious Litigant race continues to be a roller-coaster ride, with our own Abd currently in the lead by a slender 1-vote margin. That really gets me. Abd isn't really an "evil" editor, just very very longwinded. It's possible to have an actual sorta-coherent conversation with him. He may be vexatious, but he's not at a toxic level (unless you're foolish enough to start an argument with him about cold fusion....) You can't have a conversation with Baseball Bugs. He's completely nuts, has Jimbo Juice dribbling out of every hole in his body, and will probably never turn up here to have a serious debate with WR regulars. AND he talks too much, albeit only in short bursts. Try posting a message on his talkpage, asking him to discuss any criticism of him. See what happens (or doesn't happen). The more I look thru his massive talkpage archives, the more I think he's deliberately and cleverly trolling ANI......how smart, a troll who calls everyone else a troll.....

It's important to remember that awards pageants of this sort are never purely technical assessments of the contestants. There is always a generous serving of Tinseltown politics involved as well. Have you thought about getting a better publicist? On the bright side, your grudge match with Ottava is going well (or poorly, depending on how ironic you want to be.) Is it? Lar has 12 votes for being a dick and another 7 for being incongeniate. That seems to be a tie to my 19. And that is considering that Lar had to "lay low" when he was an Ombudsman.

Know thy litigants, in rising order of vexatiosity: - Abd just has unusually broad notions of what is relevant to a discussion.
- NYB just tries way too hard to be everybody's friend, to great waste of ink and electrons.
- FT2's prolixity varies inversely as his inclination to answer the (often simple) questions being posed to him.
I think this award needs retitled next year. *"Vexatious litigant" is someone who files spurious lawsuits to distract or harass, and would to me mean someone who repeatedly went running to arbcom or XFD/DRV for no good reason (and usually lost). What I think we've got here is an award for long-winded, off-topic, and tl;dr submissions. Or for that perennial non-answer answer, where lots of words are used as an alternative to actual communication. Or (as I said to Geogre in a put-down line I'm rather proud of) "the tendency to mistake verbosity for erudition." See also logorrhoeaThis post has been edited by Doc glasgow:

IMO Abd is second 'best' of the vexatious litigants, after NYB, as Abd has a lot of knowledge and articulates fairly well. I'm sure Abd would be an engaging person to talk to in person, but he jams an entire conversation into a single, discardable, post.

See also logorrhoeaAs much as I disagree with Doc when it comes to all things Wikimedia, I have to say he has a valid point here. It seems to me that there has been some confusion of a symptom with the disease. NYB certainly has a well documented history of producing verbose screeds, but it is important to understand that not all logorrhea is in aid of the same goal. While vexatious litigants do often use exceedingly verbose diatribes in pursuit of their obsession for revenge, or intent to harass or confuse, I do not see this as Brad's aim. More often than not, he is trying to play the role of The Reasonable Man in a fundamentally unreasonable situation dealing with quite unreasonable people. As futile or misguided as this behavior may be, it hardly qualifies as the behavior of a vexatious litigant.
