The 2009 version of Cognition uses dry, neutral language with very correct grammar and syntax. The 2005 edition was flamboyant and not terribly correct. Plus, the 2005 Cognition was very defiant. The one asking for forgiveness (as I mentioned somewhere in this thread a few years back) reminds me of Winston Smith at the end of Nineteen Eighty-Four, broken and contrite.

As one would expect. I'm having a closer look - there are interest sequential editing patterns - one starts then the other and so on. The editing patterns are distinctive. Much use of reverting in both accounts.

Sounds like he was doing it to make a point or expose something - or just play a game as he says in the trailer.

Well, if you want to know the full truth behind the 172/Cognition story, here is your chance: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/172554...-on-wikipedia-v

The link is to our Kickstarter campaign, where we are trying to raise the money we need to complete production of our film, "The Encyclopedia Game," which features, among others, Cognition himself, in all his eccentric glory.

Please check it out, help us spread the word, and consider a donation (as little as $5 will get you a download of the finished film).

No, I actually went to college with Cognition. I knew him pretty well then, but only knew a little about his exploits on Wikipedia. When I had the idea to do a film on Wikipedia vandalism, and got back in touch with him, he recommended Wikipedia Review as a good place to begin my research on the topic. Ironically, it wasn't until I came here that I realized how interesting Cognition's story really is. Of course he would always talk it up to me, but it is different to hear the story from others' points of view.

I would certainly be interested to hear about what really happened. It really is perplexing. So now it seems Cognition was a long-term vandal who created a LaRouchite character just for kicks?
