If any individuals with experience and knowledge in setting up Mediawiki that are interested in a possible limited-scope project could private message me, I would appreciate it. It could be of great benefit to Wikipedia, in the end. Note, that you *will* have to identify yourself to me, who you really are, if you want to initially participate, for everyone's sake. I swear to you now that any such information I receive will never, ever, never get to the hands of the Wikimedia Foundation, admins, trolls, etc., unless they legally force it out of me.
I'm initially looking for people that are very familiar with the actual Mediawiki setup (Greg, you out there?). I think the lame warning shot stuff is past due. Time to do things right. Daniel, this will be of interest to you in the end as well. This post has been edited by Rootology: Mon 18th June 2007, 3:27pm |

I'm specifically looking to do this in Mediawiki, however. It's GFDL, and there is the matter of karma. The very tool that is abused in earnest will be used to expose that abuse.

A wikitruth clone? Not in the slightest. A wiki with a page on every single ex and current administrator, b'cat, Checkuser, Arbiter, Steward, Board Member, all of them, is my first thought. Articles on them, but very cold, and to the point--an evidence dossier to link any bad, immoral, unethical, or in violation of policies actions by them from one central place. *NOT* limited to en.wikipedia.org. This is for all of them, for everyone. You've seen those evidence pages people assemble for RFC/RFAR? The same thing--all GFDL, all exported from Wikipedia, and linking back. A permament record. Basic layout: * Name (name of parent Wikipedia account) * Known aliases: Other usernames. * Synopsis: 1-3 encyclopediac paragraphs on them. * Common tactics and behavior: What they tend to do, how they do it, and their areas of focus. * Major events: RFCS, RFAs, RFARs, basic analysis of each, perhaps. * Violations: Year by year breakdown, with a parent section for each year since Wikipedia's inception. The goal is to become the sum total of knowledge of all of a user's history. * See also: Related users/known allies/known enemies, etc. * External links: links to other external resources on the user. Wikipedia pages/project pages, their blogs, personal sites, etc. * Categories: Wikipedia Resigned Admin (for ex-admins); Wikipedia Defrocked Admin; Wikipedia Administrator, etc. That's basically it. A complete list of evidence that anyone--admins, or otherwise--can use and import back into Wikipedia for instant evidence for use on AN, ANI, RFA, RFC, and RFAR, public review, or media/news review. All links will link back to Wikipedia, so that people can just copy/paste whole sections back into Wikipedia. If anyone tries to accuse you of importing material from an attack site, guess what? It's MATERIAL and links *FROM* Wikipedia. That was released under GFDL. Use their own tools against them, to document and highlight all their transgressions. That anyone can add to. It would be a pretty simple template to build off, to populate the pages initially, I'd imagine. Domain name: registered. |

I should add that I envision the trio of Wikipedia Review, Wikitruth, and the newly registered "wikiabuse.com" as a trinity that works in tandem. Wikipedia Review is the discussion community. Wikitruth has multiple admins and one, I understand, rumored Checkuser level person on it's staff, for closed-community review and commentary. Wikiabuse.com would be the public archival of misdeeds to go with it. Community review, insider review, public archival.
I have the resources to host it myself, and would prefer that, so that there would be less chance of external pressure being applied. |

What do you think of editthis.info? Look at their top wikis (they list then on their mind page) and check out them, esp. the poolsclosed wiki (which is #7 right now).

I've looked at them previously; they're alright. I don't like the idea of 3rd parties that I don't know (editthis.info) having database or website control and access if I can help it for things I am working on. I can always set logging on my own systems that I own to have limited retention of personal information like IPs, or to hash them with a key of my own creation. That helps me assure that people have ample privacy on my systems in theory. I can't vouch for editthis.info on that mark, so if this actually goes ahead, I wouldn't be able to use them. |

Hmm the poolsclosed wiki is broken or something, won't let me create new logins and even logging in with m old name I can't view pages and their main site poolsclosed.com is gone so nevermind that site.
If you want to use your own site, download and install mediawiki off mediawiki.org Then you need to find a shared hosting site that doesn't suck. That's hard. wikichan.org first did 1and1 and that site due to negligence destroyed their whole database. Then they tried godaddy that made up bs about the site using too much bandwidth and shut them down after a day. Google "godaddy sucks" and there's a blog telling about godaddy. I actually wonder if Wikipedia Review's host might be good as this is a popular website and "Reverse IP: 433 other sites hosted on this server." shows it's shared. So Selena, is your host good? |

QUOTE Articles on them, but very cold, and to the point That's the right idea. Have it as a formal record. Leave the satire and silly attacks to ED and other pages. |

Er, I don't need a shared host. I have my own physical machines. That's what I've been saying. I knows L1nux!!1! and stuff. And I know how to install and run Mediawiki, it's not hard. I need help for some of the advanced stuff--templating, trusted people to help admin it, and savvy people to help install some of the more advanced plugins and extensions. I know Mediawiki, I'm just not especially experienced yet in back-end administration of it (from the extension perspective). The on-wiki stuff is a toy that I can handle easily enough, except for advanced wiki markup (the aforementioned templating).
QUOTE Articles on them, but very cold, and to the point That's the right idea. Have it as a formal record. Leave the satire and silly attacks to ED and other pages. Exactly. I heart ED, but this idea forming for wikiabuse.com isn't meant to be a parody, a satire, or 'fun'. It's meant to be a weapon; a hammer against abuse. It's lifespan would only extend as long as there was notable abuse surrounding the Wikimedia Foundation projects. Whatever happened to sgrayban? What is that? Sgrayban was the last person to try to do what you're proposing... It appeared to be directed at one specific WP admin, though - User:Rebecca, then known as "Ambi." That and the main page were the only pages on the site for the 6 weeks or so that it existed, as I recall... Are you sure you're not just really angry at the moment? I have no desire to discourage you from starting more anti-Wikipedia websites, but it's no small thing. Maybe if you went fishing/sailing/hiking for a couple of days...? |

I have no desire to discourage you from starting more anti-Wikipedia websites, but it's no small thing. Maybe if you went fishing/sailing/hiking for a couple of days...? I am angry, to be honest, but the very limited scope of this is what makes me think it's feasible. I don't have time to do much more than what I've done so far, for this week/weekend coming up. If I still think it's feasible and a good idea a week from now, I can't see why not to do it. I'm apparently public enemy #1, along with Daniel, and from sources I've learned I apparently have been for quite some time--I really, really skeeved off a lot of people without realizing it, and apparently some of my idle speculation about people's activities in certain IRC channels were hitting a bit too close to home. If they want to paint me as some leper bastard, that's fine. I'm content to give them what they apparently want. I guess Wiki-people don't appreciate blunt and to the point people. That's why I liked Merkey at first, before he went round the bend. Half the discussion and bullshit on Wikipedia is empty vaporware, and specifically done to distract people and waste time. The more I went to the point, the more banned I got. And calling people on their BS and biases outright? I figured I'd just make a website that does it with no pretensions about what it is: The Guide To Wikipedia Administrative Abuse That Anyone Can Edit. If it comes to pass, and there is fallout specifically for Wikipedians because of this--deadminnings, arbitration, etc., from people getting caught out by the evidence, all the blame will lay squarely on the shoulders of Jayjg, Fred Bauder, and MONGO. They drove me out, when I was content to just dork around in my little corners of the encyclopedia. When I tried to nudge things externally, they went out of their way to try to paint me as some monster that advocates rape of all things. I think it's time they realized that we can see them peeing in the pool again and again, and we can show this to EVERYONE; and they will have no control over it.
