Politico (blog)
By JEDD ROSCHE | A reader flags a notable name in the "talk" section of Newt Gingrich's Wikipedia page: Gingrich communications director Joe DeSantis, who evidently wrote in to suggest changes for the former speaker's online biography. ...

I agree with most of this. Almost every source used the term welfare reform for that act, and NPOV requires us to follow the sources, so I see nothing wrong with welfare reform. The bit about his affair was superfluous, as is "highly paid". Thanks for being candid about your position here. —Designate (talk) 20:34, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Joe, I'd suggest you take a look at the Wikipedia conflict of interest policy. Terence7 (talk) 21:35, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Designate, I'm glad you agreed and thanks for taking care of it. Terence7, I am familiar with the guideline. In fact, my aim in suggesting changes here was to follow advice from "How to avoid COI edits", which encourages questions like this. Thanks again. --Joedesantis (talk) 22:09, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Terence7, nothing in our policies should discourage interested parties from commenting on articles. In fact, their professional input should be welcomed. —Designate (talk) 22:31, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

With any luck, some butthurt admin will block DeSantis, and trigger a hellstorm......

Joedesantis has been upfront about his COI since 2008. He helped make some articles more neutral in language, and most of his revisions have edit summaries / justifications.

Wow! I can't believe the national communications director of Newt's campaign would have the audacity to flag Newt's profile as questionable until changes he felt important were made. Did you clear this with your candidate? That's pretty risky behavior my friend! Darren717 (talk) 02:47, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

He said he did anyway: "If these issues are resolved, then I think the warning on the article could be removed." I think someone else removed it after making the changes. Darren717 (talk) 03:12, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Apparently, Darren717 is under the impression that Joedesantis was holding the article hostage or something. Darren717 also censored one of his earlier comments:

Welcome to the playground, Newtie! Wikipedia may be one of the most juvenile "adult" enterprises, right on the heels of Congress.

Thank you for being open about your identity and treating the community with respect. Reviewing your edit history, I see that you have not made any edits to article space (only talk pages) for many months - this is a very good thing indeed. Please know that as long as you continue following these practices, I will support your participation and use it as a model for others.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 12:15, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

The lynch mob is now after Joedesantis. They're led by Buster7, who wishes to rob someone of their freedom to speak on a a Talk page:

Editor:Dell should stop his incivil claim that editors with a logical concern about edits into political articles are Poisoning the well. On the contrary. We are protecting the well from poisoning by inputing of edits that "hew to the party line" one way or the other. see Defensive walls```<em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:black">Buster Seven</em><small><em style="font-family:Bradley Hand ITC;color:black"> Talk</em></small> 03:25, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm not exaggerating when I'm saying that Buster7 is leading it:

He or she gathering potential allies. Buster7 has also been planning this since late January:

Buster7 is also the sort of person who maintains a "list of jerks":
