QUOTE(Viridae @ Sun 8th November 2009, 2:25am) *

I think you are being way too cynical, I certainly wouldn't put the effort into contributing all that he does just so he can troll with impunity - of course, he might have realised he can be a troll as a side project in addition to the content which he seems to enjoy contributing. That said, I don't think he is particuarly trollish, just has a filthy temper and has discovered he can (up till now) make people back down by screaming harrasment. Frankly is you want to troll with impunity, either edit ED, go play on/b/ or become an admin, all of which are easier options that doing what he is doing.

It's more likely that the constructive editing is the side project and the trolling is the main event. After all, when confronted with the imminent likelihood of sanctions that would limit his ability to troll, he chose to leave and not write articles anymore. Doesn't that speak volumes about his priorities? Also, considering that he's a religious fanatic, I don't think playing around with a bunch of vulgar children would have much troll appeal for him.

Then what was he doing at Wikipedia? blink.gif

QUOTE(One @ Sun 27th December 2009, 12:51pm) *

I haven't previously glanced at this thread, but I notice that Everyking is taking the side of ArbCom in sanctioning an editor. I'm not accustomed to seeing that--Everyking usually insists that evaluating editors on anything besides their encyclopedic content is a mistake (and Ottava is believed to be a good writer).

What gives here, Everyking? Why should this user be banned but not, say, Ecoleetage?

You're oversimplifying and assuming that I always think good content editors should be free to edit, which is not the case. I tend towards treating good content editors with greater leniency than the ArbCom, but my tolerance is not infinite. A perpetually hostile personality who provokes draining, time-wasting skirmishes for no apparent reason shouldn't be allowed to edit until they are prepared to change their ways. The most obvious difference between Ottava and Eco is that Ottava is aggressive and highly unreasonable--unsuited to Wikipedia due to his temperament and his unwillingness to change it--while Eco just made a mistake once and seems otherwise sane and reasonable.

You know, I love fried chicken and waffles. Throw in some Cajun okra and mmmmm, mmmmmm, I am one happy Horsey.

Can anyone here cook?

The real life name of Ecoleetage/Pastor Theo was just oversighted on Ottava's talk page.

I wonder who made the request. Somebody hungry?

Dear old fat balding Bradley is often correct, it doesn't though stop him from being a sanctimonious old bore who could waffle on ad infinitum.

I really think we do ourselves no favours here by continually insulting one of the most influential people on Wikipedia, someone further who is willing to come here and engage in sensible dialogue. He is as he is, which is probably much like many successful American lawyers. At least he explains himself fully so you're not left guessing why he does what he does. And I think virtually everyone here believe that he's telling the truth, which is not the opinion we have of some people.

Yes, Ottava Rima was bitey. However, I disagree with the one year ban consensus. 6 months is more like it.

Personally, I would be in favor of OR staying without the stupid punishment. There are far worse attack dogs roaming Wikipedia who contribute absolutely nothing to the project. At least OR is a fine writer.

Absolutely. I was shocked when I saw NYB's proposed one year ban. I'd prefer to see him banned, for ever.

As a point of information, I was not the one who proposed the ban, though I did vote for it.

Bradley, you are known for being unusually lenient in doling out bans. Would you please explain, then, why in this case, you decided to let the hammer fall, when in the past you have shown far more tolerance to arguably far less worthy defendants?
(Oh and please try and keep your explanation to a single paragraph or less wink.gif

Please see my comments on-wiki on the workshop page and the proposed decision. (Actually, Mathsci has already quoted the explanation for my vote from the proposed decision page, earlier in this thread.)

Eh, phooey! Who care about on-Wiki workshops? There is one question that demands answering: Brad, how do you like your women? Nubile, naughty, sophisticated, silly, or all of the above? Come on, you wicked rich lawyer -- we know the hot chili mamas want to review your briefs. Let's get some tabloid-ready scandal stuff going about your after hours hoochy-koo! evilgrin.gif

Huh. So much for his "retiring" from Wikiversity. Not sure if that's a new enemy or an old one.

Chalk up one more for Arbcom making troll-mountains out of troll-hills. Yeah, ban him for a year... he'll come back repentant and whole of soul.

You haven't kept up with the New York gossip, have you? Brad has been seen around town with Scarlett Johansson. In the hot spots, they're known as "Beauty and the Beast"! evilgrin.gif

In any event -- can Ottava come in from the cold and play with us? Pretty please? smile.gif

Which is which? And why only in the hot spots? Is it that when Brad gets hot he removes his jacket and tie so everyone can see how gorgeous he is? And how does he compare as an escort with others she's had?
