Bizarre, obscure, and poorly spelt contributions are among Wikipedia edits traced to the Prime Minister’s department – with one simply stating: “Poo bum dicky wee wee”.

This morning The Sydney Morning Herald revealed staff at the Prime Minister’s department had been editing details on Wikipedia, including changing articles that were damaging to the government.

But while some of the contributions are about national political affairs, many of the entries are related to matters such as guitar trivia, bird watching, and historical results of Serbian football matches.

This is the main news story in the Australia news, right across the country.

First time I've ever seen Wikipedia mentioned in an actual TV news story. All of a sudden its the number 1 news story in the country.

Even Kevin Rudd's stripper gate is down to number 2.

And it seems that the Australian public regard changing your Wikipedia entry as a lot worse than going to see a strip show.

Which immediately brought to my mind the question: whatever happened to Adam Carr? And as it turns out, he left Wikipedia in May of this year.

That's actually not the major news story. That one is only focussing on the vandalism element. Most news stories are focussing on their changing the children overboard article, and related issues of political importance.
