I know you probably couldn't think of anything worse lol- but I think it would be so fun. Especially as I've mainly been chatting to men from this site, PlentyofFish and I've rarely sensed the presence of a single brain cell . I mean, worse than wikipedians. biggrin.gif

The only confirmed WP couple that I'm aware of (I'm sure there are more) is ImmortalGoddezz/TexasDex. Don't know if you'd count Lara and the_undertow as a "couple", too. Remember using WP as a dating site is a high-speed shortcut to blocking - and that's something that is enforced - so there's less of that kind of thing then you'd think.

I don't think I've ever heard of any such thing as a couple-that-met-on-WP, but I would laugh my ass off at the absurdity of someone getting blocked for hooking up via Wikipedia. The blocking admin would have to be an utter dumbass.

If such things happen, it happens, and good for them. It doesn't matter where or how you meet your better half. I'd love to see some fool try to Wikilegislate sexuality and relationships. I'd be the first to vote Delete on such a thing.

I know lol I'm speaking hypothetically of course. smile.gif Lar and his wife are on WP. David Gerard's wife is on there, as is his girl friend. (I know all these were presumably going out before joining.) Did Blu_Aardvark and Slim really go out at some point? And 'eloquence'/erik moller is an ex of Angela Beesley's isn't he?

Mind you, a partner of mine was coaxed into a couple of edits smile.gif

That's just what I wrote above, but had to change it in case it was taken down and used in evidence against me lol smile.gif

I think Angela was in one, with, I think, Tim!. Then again, my memory might've been faulty here.

And hands up who expected something else from me.

I think this is a bad idea, I mean if things go sour do you really want to get dumped via a subpage??

Dang, I can't remember their User names, but there's this one fragile high school girl who has her whole User page mocked up exactly like the just-out-of-high-school coder dude whom she credits with helping her through some "rough times" and encouraging her to come out of her shell. Their pages are on black backgrounds, and it sounds like the two of them are bound to get married when she's of age. She worships his wiki-coding abilities. It seemed kind of sweet to me, but also creepy at the same time.

Anyway, Awbrey and I went out on a date once, and the Indian buffet was good enough, but once I saw his notebook full of sockpuppets and passwords, I knew the two of us together would be just too tempestuous. I just can't tolerate someone who so disrespects Wikipedia that they would make multiple sockpuppets and just cause trouble. It utterly offended me. So, I returned faithfully to my wife and child, and merely agreed to remain friends with Jon. There was no "love connection".

smile.gif I'm always amused at people wagging their fingers about "meeting" people for the first time on-line. "But you don't know-- they might be a dog." So, there's always zoophilia.

The way somebody writes gives you a more direct look into their mind than almost anything else. The exception being how they write without external aids wink.gif. Even speech can fool you, as there are some poor talkers who are very bright, and a few glib people who you might take a long time to realize talk more clearly than they actually think.

Not that any of this this applies to me, of course, since I find that the most erotic part of a woman is the boobies.

If Brandt's hivemind is accurate - and I have no reason to believe otherwise - it claims that Angela once dated Erik Moller.

Nope - don't socialise with them, don't date them. I have only ever met one person in the flesh after meeting them online first.

I've met a scary number of people that were "online buddies" first. I actually technically met my wife first online, but only knew each other in passing that way, and didn't began dating until getting to know each other IRL. It was just an entry point, and we happened to meet at social events for a now defunct online group.

Internets people aren't always scary, and oddly from experience tend to be even nicer in real life.

"Oddly"? To be expected. They didn't invent all those smileys for nothing, but they're no substitute for the real thing. smile.gif

Lol people feel/felt the same about newspaper classifieds.

At least if you meet someone from online you know something about them first (except from what they've kept quiet about lol.) If you just happen to meet someone in a pub, you're going in there 'blind'- except when it comes to their looks and voice. You don't know if you have shared interests, values etc.

Last I heard, Angela and Tim were a current item; the relationship between Tim and Angela led to some interesting conflict-of-interest problems (the Foundation hired Tim while Angela was on the Board and while they were actively involved with one another). Angela and Herr Erik are a former item; not clear when that broke off.

When my to-be-oneday-wife replied via AOL Instant Messenger that "Barry Sanders is a god", I knew at that moment she had tremendous potential as a mate, and I hadn't yet laid eyes on her.

I know of a very minor admin who once had a fling with someone met on Wikipedia...

I doubt it's uncommon. Especially among the somewhat sexually peculiar editors.

There are sexually peculiar editors? ohmy.gif

I was actually thinking of FT2 when I repeated the old cartoon line about how, on the internet, nobody knows you're a dog. happy.gif

I'm sure he's aware there's one of the 613 mitzvoh which frowns on this. He obscesses about it constantly. Must be un-fun to be him, poor boy. If he didn't spend his time taking it out on unsuspecting ordinary WP editors, I'd feels sorry for him. sad.gif But as it is, I don't.
