Way back in March 2006, someone in Indonesia created an article in bad English about 'Budi Santoso' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budi_Santoso
http://www.webcitation.org/5rqIxQBCL Who he? Well, supposedly: "a Indonesian business tycoon who has owned a string of successful businesses" who "took control of his father's Tobacco shop aged 20, and by age 29 had turned it into the largest business in the country" "At the time, Indonesia was a Big country. Santoso, now mass-producing Cigarettes spares for the whole country and for overseas." he also "He set up every Soccer team in Central Java." Over the months the article acquired some categories, including someone helpfully adding the category 'billionaires' but the language was never really cleaned up. In September 2007 someone said that it was 'unreferenced'. Eventually now, 4-and-a-half years after creation, somebody has listed for AFD, although he doesn't seem too sure of himself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Art...on/Budi_Santoso Perhaps someone should inform them that Indonesian billionaires don't just appear without trace, nor do people owning 'the largest business in the country' (of 200 million people) and that this is a total fantasy. Just goes to show how utterly hopeless Wikipedia is for anything that doesn't concern the developed world. This post has been edited by wikieyeay: Mon 9th August 2010, 1:36am |

Just goes to show how utterly hopeless Wikipedia is for anything that doesn't concern the developed world. wikipedia mimics the developing world in these areas. haphazard information, sometimes accurate, sometimes not. this is an odd article, sounds somewhat similar to real Indonesian billionaire Budi Hartono, but other names associated with other Indonesian business elite are also used (Santoso is one such surname) |

There's a guy named "Buddy Santos" who has a Facebook page - they're probably all thinking of that guy.
There's another guy named "Bud E," but he lives in Dallas... I remember a pro wrestler named Bruno Sammartino (T-H-L-K-D) too - but now this is just getting ridiculous. |
