_ MediaWiki Software _ IPblock exemption is now live

Posted by: Alison

Administrators can now grant immunity to underlying IP blocks to certain "trusted" editors. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard#IP_Exempt_enabled_for_administrators_on_user_rights on WP:AN. The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IP_block_exemption is still getting firmed up.

As well as this, a new privilege called "Account creator" has now been added. This overrides the cap on daily account creations per editor. Currently, it's set to 6, but this allows certain editors to create unlimited accounts (as happens on WP:ACC, for example).

Will this forever be known as the "AB Rule"?

Ironically, at this point there's almost no way they're going to let AB back in, is there?

At least we can tell her she can end her hunger strike now...

I was unaware he was banned.

Who knows? At some point or other, somebody "vanished" her. Or him, or it, if you prefer...

I don't even know what AB's Wikipedia username is at the moment. I'm not sure she even knows. That's good, of course, since nobody should know, but either way, I'd have to say there are probably some WP'ers who would object to her returning, given what's happened recently.

It's Special:Contributions/RenamedUser2.

Aww, man, you outed her! Now I'm going to have to delete more posts... sad.gif

But as you can see, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:RenamedUser2.

It wasn't that hard. Just do a Whatlinkshere on AB's original username and check through the contribution history. Of interesting note is that AB didn't edit his/her RFA at all - everything was done by transclusion.

There's a User:AB on wiki but that's not the same as our AB who I think was called {redacted by me in case it's a secret} on there. unsure.gif

It's for WP:ACC, people who make accounts for others.

This way they can make 6 socks per minute and help at ACC tongue.gif

Nice. They've just granted every damn sysop a license to sockpuppet with impunity. It's good to see that http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard&diff=prev&oldid=211178316 realizes this, though.
