_ Articles _ Starts as a promotion for a site, ends up being a national issue

Posted by: islesv

I was looking through the earliest version of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noynoying and noticed that there was already a link to the noynoying.com site. The article was created on March 18, 2012 12:24 UTC. The domain was registered on March 15, 2012 17:52 UTC, or just two days before. That does not seem right. After some investigation, it seemed to me that the person who created the article was the same person who registered the domain name. Here are the http://wikipinoy.com/wikipedia-noynoying-article-started-as-promotion-for-noynoying-com.html of my investigations.

There was a debate whether to delete or not the article, which ended up in our national dailies and networks here in the Philippines, which made the article topic itself more noteworthy (or not, depending on viewpoint).

Welcome Islesv. I don't know why nobody ever commented.

yeah, this was actually interesting. but it looks like since noynoying took off so virally in the phillipines, it was an inevitable angle to cover the debate over its wikipedia article. which made it more notable. haha.
