Well, at least it's reassuring to see that people who live under bridges can have dysfunctional families too, eh?
I wonder who will win this round... Who are we rooting for, again? And isn't there some way to ensure that they both lose? I'm sure someone has asked that before. It also looks like we're a lot more capable of forgiving Kelly Martin than a lot of the Wikipedia folks are - User:Geogre, for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...rbcom_candidate Yowza! One thing I'll say in Cyde's defense: He's loyal. Once he picks his friends, he sticks by them, through thick and thin, even to the point of permanently smashing any hope they ever had of success! |

So SlimVirgin twice protected a candidate's question page, thereby preventing people asking questions? In any sensible system, she'd be blocked for that until the elections were over, if not de-sysopped.

In any sensible system, she'd be blocked for that until the elections were over, if not de-sysopped. I figured that since she was mostly just preventing User:Cyde from asking questions, she should get a barnstar or something, right? I mean, in any sensible system. ![]() |

Shucks, I'm processing two additional months of #wikipedia IRC logs for findchat.html, which should be up next week. But now the User_talk pages on en.wikipedia.org are starting to look more enticing, and I'm losing energy on those IRC logs before my processing is done.
By the way, there was an aborted attempt at another AfD on my bio, but if someone does it properly, it might be allowed to get through for a vote. This is funny: QUOTE If we delete this page as you suggest wikipedia is dead, SqueakBox 15:18, 5 December 2006 (UTC) Excuse me, Squeaky, but if you don't delete it, Wikipedia is dead. Google now loves wikipedia-watch. Put "slimvirgin" in the search box, and my home page is number 3 on Google and number 8 on Yahoo. What a difference a week makes! |

By the way, there was an aborted attempt at another AfD on my bio, but if someone does it properly, it might be allowed to get through for a vote. AfDs aren't supposed to be votes. The closing admin looks at the discussion and is supposed to judge the strengths of the arguments on both sides. Of course, if there's a clear majority of postings one way or the other, few admins would have the originality to think for themselves. |

It makes one wonder something:
Given that Cyde and SlimVirgin are both infamous for being dicks and playing the Wikipedia game really well...that makes them two of a kind, they're made for each other (they both do some of the same stupid things, they're both abusive to users, etc)..so why are they arguing with one another? Yeah, just mindless speculation but I'm curious... Does Cyde have ANY redeeming qualities whatsoever? Anything positive that he has going for him? I'm wondering what would cause them both to go at it. (Bear in mind, I don't like either one of them but I've always been curious about why people do the things they do and what motivates them to act the way they do) You wouldn't expect two full-fledged members of the Cabal to be fighting with one another when they should be fighting with us instead ;) |

...so why are they arguing with one another? Do they even need a reason? They're Slimmy and Cyde! Though if I recall correctly, Cyde was pissed at Slimmy because she turned against his Favorite Admin Ever, Kelly Martin, during Phase II of the whole Carnildo, Giano, et al debacle. Publicly. Y'see, Cyde believes in what we Kremlinologists call the "Brazen Cabal" - where not only the existence of the cabal is known, but also the membership. And as long as that membership includes Cyde, he's just happy as a clam! Slimmy, however, prefers the "Non-Existent Cabal," where both the existence and membership are merely hinted at, as this is more effective at keeping the proles on their toes. In actuality, Slimmy doesn't consider herself to be part of any sort of "cabal" at all, whereas Kelly did, and Cyde still does. So, in effect, there are two cabals, engaging in a perpetual cold war against each other, both to the ultimate detriment of the website and its content. So you see, it all makes perfect sense when you explain it! ![]() Does Cyde have ANY redeeming qualities whatsoever? Anything positive that he has going for him? No. |

that makes them two of a kind, they're made for each other ... so why are they arguing with one another? One sees this so often. Two similar strong-minded people are very likely to clash precisely because they are strong-minded and argumentative, so any trivial difference that you or I could finesse away becomes a big issue. |

When you think about it that way, it makes a tremendous amount of sense.
In fact, I used to have a friend (not anyone on Wikipedia) who I'd clash with a few times because we were both strong-minded and stubborn. We'd both say seemingly-final sounding things then later on, pretend like yesterday didn't happen (after a few times, it got old and annoying). |

Slim has finally returned fire in the ongoing spat/power struggle between herself and Cyde.
As somewhat of a Master of the Dark Arts myself, I have to hand it Slim here. This carefully crafted attack on Cyde is beautifully executed. She establishes the narrative of her feud with Cyde early in 2006. Glossing over the sock-puppet expose which would sink other admins, Slim asserts that Cyde embarked on a vendetta against her after he demanded that links to Wiki-truth be removed. Slim then conjours up an email Cyde sent to her, where Cyde purportedly stated: "in future, if I have issues with admins, I should try to deal with them first by e-mail." Thus painting Cyde as the villainous hypocrite. Not only is it inferred that he has changed his attitude to "attack sites" over the last 18 months, but that he has gone back on his word regarding public denouncements of other admins. Bad Cyde, cheating Cyde, liar Cyde. According to Slim, the feud now appears to have been initiated and continued by Cyde alone. Slim is an innocent victim, "He has sent people very insulting e-mails about me, which I've seen, and has been repeatedly abusive about me on IRC." Slim, of course, was just doing her job as an upstanding member of the community. Dragged down by this upstart. Abused! Harassed! Stalked! From one Master of the Dark Arts to another, Slim: I salute your endlessly impressive and ever inventive machiavellian machinations! (And try saying that with your mouth full) |

Cyde's very much your typical impetuous man/child wikipedia admin. Probably sits in his bedroom at his mom's house editing WP in between Star Trek re-runs. No Master of the Dark Arts is he. His response isn't great but it seems honest. What he should have done was dismiss SV's claims as being solely devised to take the sting out of her sockpuppetry expose. And use the "insulting e-mails" claim by Slim as further evidence of the extent she will go to in order to gain the upper hand. It's startling that Slim would weep crocodile tears about Cyde's aggressive feud against her, whilst starting a thread that attacks Cyde pretty much out-of-the-blue on an unrelated Arbcom page. Now that takes some nerve. |

QUOTE(Cyde) Why the hell is my evidence even necessary? I'm not even a named party to the case! As far as I can tell, this case was about something completely different, then I got dragged into it kicking and screaming by SlimVirgin and ElinorD (and a very unfortunate proposed decision by Fred Bauder). Also for Cyde to take note of, Fred Bauder added the proposed decision BEFORE[1][2] SV and Elinor added evidence. (Elinor's evidence) (SV's evidence). So really Fred drug you into this. it seems that Fred advocated this position before the evidence was presented. |

Cool. Civil war is in the process of (finally?) breaking out publicly among the Wikipedia Elite. Anyone care to share a barrel of popcorn? Lets hope the mainstream media picks up on this and see the true face of Wikipeida and understands its not a Encyclopedia but a large role playing game... Unfortunately, its a game that has the power of google and the power to spread lies and mis-information, across the wide swath of the blue water internet. For this reason and many other, Wikipeida should be shut down, destroyed , or completely PURGED OF ALL if it's leaders, admins and others with power to continue to enable this farce. "You vs Me" fight QUOTE Hey Slim, if you really want to throw down and have a proper you-vs-me fight, go right ahead. Let's bring ''all'' of that unseemly evidence into the open, just the way I like it. But this isn't the proper place. I'm not a named party in this case, and I wasn't even afforded the right to an opening statement, or indeed, any sort of evidence before the later stage of voting began, when I was unceremoniously thrust into the middle of it. --[[User:Cyde]] 01:53, 25 September 2007 (UTC) Apparently they do this type of thing at Encyclopedia Britannica as well. Encyclopedias have a long history of fights, violence, power struggles etc. In 1852, Britannica had to cancel a whole publication when the geography editors staged a lengthy war against biology and life sciences. Casualty figures rose to four figures. The assassination of a Humanities editor in Sarajevo led to the 4 year encyclopedia War to end all Wars at the beginning of the 20th century. In modern times, encyclopedic disputes are settled over 15 rounds in the ring. Or maybe I've been reading too many wikipedia talk pages to know how "encyclopedia" editors are supposed to behave. Jimbo, this is all your fault again, mate. |

So how many of these throwaway accounts does she have? Probably not very many, if she's using an account created less than a month ago. Maybe if she had been better prepared she could've had more accounts with actual identities. I don't think it's SV. Unless she's decided to start using the word "tidying" to divert people who have cunning linguistic skilz. I wonder where Virgin's "Candi" went.... http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=...v&oldid=7358780 SV did use the word tidying a lot actually. Umm who deleted a load of messages? |
