This flag is a fake.

And here's the creator, joking about it on WATMM and on Reddit.

And here it is, for sale on Amazon.

And the deletion request is pathetic.
Twats.

That's nothing. For some time WP's photo of the national flag of Libya just showed a blank green rectangle, with absolutely nothing on it at all. This stayed there for the longest time.... laugh.gif

I love the comments on WATMM.com:

"maybe you should have designed one that was less gay"

"that flag would make a nice sarong. the motif part could be made into a handy pouch."

"you should have put in a subtle goatse or something"

"has anyone made the official unofficial herefordshire sauce yet?"

"i heard that when you flush a toilet in great britain, instead of the water going down clockwise, it propels outward, jettisoning all of the toilet's contents onto the floor."

Good times, good times.

That's pretty embarrassing. Who would believe any country would design such a stupid flag?

Gotta admit I've seen worse.

Now somebody will use this insignia as their avatar graphic, mark my words.

Their persecution of Marty McFly and notwithstanding, Libyans I can deal with (I'm trying to resist the urge to make any insensitive SlimVirgin jokes).

But I'd rather not poke fun at any Sicilians.

Years ago, I was on an airplane from Denver to Spokane, Washington (who knew that anyone wanted to go between those cities?). Anyway, the woman sitting next to me had a panic attack and asked me to distract her so she could take her mind off her anxiety. So I started talking about my favorite subject – myself. I mentioned that I once worked at the UN and that all of the flags of the member countries are outside of UN headquarters. I described the Libyan flag as being the most unusual, since it was the only one consisting of a single color with no designs. “The Libyan flag is all green,” I said. This woman then grabbed my wrist, squeezed it tightly, clenched her jaws, looked out the window and started muttering, “The Libyan flag is all green. The Libyan flag is all green.” This went on for a seeming eternity, though fortunately for her nerves and my wrist, we landed and she regained her composure.

A good story. The Libyan flag also makes me think of that wonderul scene in Lawrence of Arabia, where Sir Alec Guinness, playing a highly intelligent Feisal, tells Lawrence:

"I think you are another of these desert-loving English. No Arab loves the desert. We love water and green trees; there is nothing in the desert. No man needs nothing.

Or is it that you think we are something you can play with because we are a little people? A silly people, greedy, barbarous, and cruel? What do you know, lieutenant? In the Arab city of Cordova, there were two miles of public lighting in the streets when London was a village."

When I see the Libyan flag I think I get it. It's as much green as you can get onto a flag, and enough said.
