Before anyone asks, 1) No I'm not upset that Jimbo has decided to hold FT2's seat along with Deskana's seat for this special election, rather then giving them to me and Fat Man. and 2) I'm not sure at all I will run this time around. I'm sure there will be very good candidates, and I've already had my shot and had significant opposition. As we get closer to it, we will see how I feel and how this new ArbCom does.

What's known.

A) At least two seats will be up (Deskana and FT2)'s, and Jimbo's going to "encourage" retirement for any other Arbs who aren't going to be active more
B) Jimbo looks to have the election around June, unless ArbCom asks him to do it beforehand
C) The available terms will be announced in advance.

I'm not sure if it's appropriate for me to be responding to you--I think I'm supposed to genuflect first or speak through an intermediary--but I'm very happy to hear that there's going to be a special election for both seats. Jimbo's been on a roll lately with these good decisions.

Bah. EK, you haven't been afraid to speak your mind to me before. As Yogi Berra might say, "I ain't nobody". You don't agree with me on something. I don't agree with you on something. World doesn't come to an end.

I just feel a little uncomfortable interacting here with someone who thinks I am out to harass someone else and that my rights as a Wikipedian should be consequently curtailed. No offense, you know--please don't block me.

There are some countries where they make you pay a flat fee, usually in cash, to be allowed to leave the country. I don't know what happens if you don't pay it. Maybe you're stuck in Yap till your visa runs out, or something.

I have a friend who had the temerity to visit the USSR at the height of the cold war in the 1970's, back when Intourist provided you your own personal spy, to keep track of you when you entered the country, and stuff like that. He said that, as the plane left the USSR, at the announcement that it had crossed over into non-Soviet airspace, every single person on the airplane spontaneously stood and started applauding. Probably an exit tax, there, too.

Ideas for Wikipedia to raise cash: For $1 you can sprotect any article for a year. During that time it bears a little plaque with your username on it, in your honor.

"This article on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer semi-protected by Mr. Milton Roe. Paid to have it done. Made the children cry when he done it, too."

Oh, I suppose you're one of those who doesn't like things to be characterized as "rights". All right, "privileges", then.

As much as I sympathize with your situation, EK, I have to say it would be appreciated by all concerned if you didn't risk the appearance of hijacking threads that aren't more specifically about Snowie and the silly restrictions (hey, band name! smile.gif ) they continue to place on you. You don't want to become another Moulton, after all.

Definitely try to avoid posting song parodies, at the very least!

This stuff can always be moved to the tarpit. SirFozzie ought to be ashamed of himself, and if he's going to post here he's going to keep hearing about it. If you'll notice, my initial response was mainly a response to the topic at hand, although it started off with a dig at SirFozzie. It was others who derailed the thread by focusing solely on that part of my comment.

The funny thing is (and then I'll leave it alone, since it's off-topic in a thread *I* started, so I should know better wink.gif).. is if I WAS one of the folks EK thinks I am, do you think I'd let such a one-trick pony stand?

Newsflash: EK. If you don't like the fact that ArbCom has "restricted your rights" by asking that you stay away from Phil (and even that seems to have softened in result to your 834,591th request for (reconsideration/clarification/etcetera), no one's tying you to Wikipedia with a leash. Go! Fly! Find some better place where an evil ArbCom won't make you feel like a terrorist.

Everyking, you know I'm a supporter. In the grand scheme of things, being restricted from commenting on the narrow subject of one unremarkable volunteer administrator is not a bad restriction--especially when you claim not to want to talk about him anyway.

Several arbitrators clearly thought they were doing you a favor by agreeing to remove all other restrictions on you--they agreed to do it over a month before you were hypothetically even allowed to appeal. The restriction might be unnecessary, but they weren't "out to get you," and SirFozzie certainly wasn't.

At any rate, I hope you stop holding it against SirFozzie. There are members here who have actual unfavorable opinions about you as an editor and a poster. SirFozzie (to my knowledge) is not one of them.

I can see how it might seem inconsequential to someone who hasn't been dealing with all this frustration for years. It is, however, hard for me to overlook SirFozzie's suggestions that I was only seeking to be released from the restrictions so that I could go harass Phil Sandifer--that's completely ludicrous and deeply insulting. Furthermore, I think that if someone supports treating me as a fifth class editor, it is perfectly appropriate for me to indulge in a little mockery at their expense by comparing the situation to that of a serf addressing a noble.

I understand. But here's the first post of your thread. You were quite upset. Above, you speak of ArbCom restricting your rights as a Wikipedian. This is all pretty harsh rhetoric, and it implies that they're severely restricting your editing in some way. SirFozzie was not the only one who drew the inference that you might want to trash talk Phil--and most of the people drawing this inference don't post on WR.

Now I understand what you're saying. I know that any restriction on your editing will be mentioned by opponents in RFA. That's true, but you should be more precise in your language. Many people who see you pissed off about the Phil editing restriction will assume that you're still fixated on him--it makes your opponents feel that they are vindicated.

You would be better off not to mention the restrictions. If you want people to believe that you won't harass Phil, you should just ignore him, the restriction, ArbCom, and everything. At the very least, you should stop attacking SirFozzie on this site. I mean, jeez.

Take SirFozzie's comments as a sign of how neutral people might react to your rhetoric. If a WR regular thinks you're OTT (see also Alison, cyofee, and Somey on this thread), then I guarantee you'll run into more resistance in your next RFA. Do better in the future, and move on; if people think you're obsessed with 2005, they're much more likely to think that the sanction is justified.

Only your conduct can prove critics wrong. Now do it.
