Luke Evans (actor) is currently fully protected due to a dispute about Evans' sexuality. There seems to be no question that Evans is openly gay, just about whether or not WP says he is gay. Although WP was happy to label Jay Brannan as gay for years despite his objections, this seems to be going to the other extreme as can be seen in this BLP noticeboard thread.

As someone else commented in the BLPN discussion, sexuality is clearly a notable topic in the world, with multiple places where homosexuality is considered illegal and punishable by death or other places where the public utilizes "rehabilitation rape". The world considers sexuality to be important and notable, or we wouldn't have so many news sources discussing the minutiae of a person's sexuality. Until the time that sexuality is no longer considered an important distinction, Wikipedia should continue to mirror the world and describe sexuality as a notable phenomenon, which includes listing and categorizing the people with a sexuality alternate to the norm. |
