While I'm waiting for Somey to make me the sole moderator and overlord of "The Wikipedia Annex," I am taking the opportunity to edify my eager subjects with a few important posting guidelines.

FOUNDING PRINCIPLE: If you post in "The Annex," you are by definition a fucking moron who loves Wikipedia. Embrace and own up to this deviant predilection (I do!), but do not expect to be taken seriously, especially on the Wikipedia Review.

1. If a thread bores me, I will close it. Let's keep things moving and keep things lively.
2. Anything you post here can and will be edited "mercilessly" by ME. I assume you've heard of a certain online encyclopedia that "anyone can edit." This forum is kind of like that... it's the message board that OBESITY CAN EDIT. I will employ this awesome power to frame my enemies, manufacturing online confessions for such crimes as shoplifting and methamphetamine distribution. CROSS ME AND YOU WILL GO TO JAIL. I also reserve the right to append the phrase "o ya, also i suck cocks, LOL" to any post for any reason.
3. There are civility restrictions, just like there on Wikipedia. You have to me nice.... TO ME, but u can be mean to everyone else, LOL. Pay obeisance to Obesity. All users of this subform must also show proper respect to Daniel Brandt, to my brother who posts here occasionally (he has 2 accounts), to my friend Paul who posts here as Ceoil, to emesee, and to Pumpie, if he ever shows up on WR. Even the faintest hint of impertinence directed toward any of the above characters will result in... in... well let me think on that and get back to ya. But insult my toadies at your own peril. srsly
4. If the unlikely event that you post something INTERESTING or worthy of discussion, I will contact a real WR staff member to move it to one of the forums that isn't a complete joke (i.e., not Jon Awbrey's forum). I don't expect this situation to arise particularly often.
5. The following is an example of an appropriate post to the Wikipedia Annex: "duhhhh.... errr derr... I heard asluihdasluidhfhaiusdhfl63 is up for his 3rd RfA in as many months. wish him luck, it looks like an uphill battle!!!!! (IMG:smilys0b23ax56/default/popcorn.gif) LOL, it looks liek Elonka is already opposing, as if we didnt see that coming< LOL!!!!!! o btw, i also suck cocks LOLOLOL" Any post that strays from the above model in either tone or content will be subject to severe moderation. If you're unsure what to say or what to do, just copy and paste uninteresting crap from AN/I.
6. I alone reserve the right, with Gomi's blessing, to create several "alternate accounts" from which I will post relentless abuse directed toward you and your styoopid wikifriends as well as lame jokes at your expense. These alternate accounts are sanctioned for use in THIS FORUM only and will be easily identifiable because most of them are named after medical conditions that I find amusing (e.g., if "Gigantomastia" makes fun of you, that's probably me).
7. Anti-WP stalwarts like Jon Awbrey, Glassbeadgame and Kato are welcome to post here as often as they like, but they are not to be addressed, engaged, insulted, praised or acknowledged in any way. Ignore them, and they will go away. This forum is for people who LIKE Wikipedia as well as for masochists who had their feelings hurt on WP last week and wish to expose themselves to additional derision and abuse.
8. Our general stance toward white supremacists, /b/tards, psychopaths and sexual perverts of all stripes is somewhat more lenient than in WR's main forums
9. If I ban u from this forum (or temporarily "ground" you for acting liek a bozo), try not to post in this forum for the duration of your punishment. It's the the Honor System. I don't actually have the technical ability to revoke anyone's posting privileges.

There are a great many other rules that are not to be revealed to the world at this time, but are to be had in the Holy Temple of God.

We've considered this in the past, but closing threads only causes people to create new ones to say the same thing, doesn't it?

This strikes me as the most problematic part, but luckily we have the ability to prevent forum-level mods from editing posts (it's an ACP feature). Frankly, it's bad enough that *I* can edit posts, and I would never dream of adding potentially embarrassing oral sex references to them. Unless of course I thought it might actually lead to me getting oral sex from someone I would actually want it from, and let's face it, that's not gonna happen.

Fair enough, assuming you keep up your end! (And I don't mean that literally.)

You'll be able to do that yourself, actually. It would probably be the most important part of the job, from "our" perspective.

Again, I'm afraid only "staff" mods can create accounts, but it isn't out of the question fr you to have such accounts, particularly if they're restricted to this forum.

There's an extension we could install that would allow for individual-forum bans by forum-level moderators... we were talking about using that on Moulton at one point, maybe even Nobs before him, but we decided it wasn't really necessary.

Anyway, one thing we could do, I suppose, would be to set up a "trial subforum" of this forum, which we'd call "The Forum That Never Came Back," and just see what happens?

I don't know that it is appropriate to take the Big O's pronouncements literally as a statement of intent. I prefer to see them as his striking a dashing, debonair pose, consistent with all other elements of his online persona. In a way, I think it might be a mistake to actually give him gnarly powers, because I think it might in some way diminish the moral power of his leadership. Would the example of Mahatma Gandhi be as moving, if he had possessed an army to enforce his policies, instead of merely his own personal self-sacrifice? Would his victory have been as durable if it were imposed by force? I think not.
