It's kind of like when you have an enemy that is so strong that you just have to sit back and be impressed. I am quite simply amazed at SlimVirgin.

What makes SlimVirgin so compelling is not strength, it is her complex juxaposure of flaws and virtues. She is very intelligent, has extraordinary capacity for the supple and sophisticated manipulation of text, and the ability exert to unusual influence in social interaction. On the other hand she seems to lack any insight into others, has gained no meaningful outlet as a writer and is ultimately toxic in her social interactions. The one uncountered fact has been a protracted unrelenting commitment in time and energy toward WP. So high is this level of activity it is almost certain the WP is the central and most important thing in her life. Which is sad and almost sympathetic.

Well, here we are composing wikipæns to Lady Mack again, and allovit will be lost to wikiposteriority on account of being acydes to our detestimonocle of Cyde.

Well, and again, I can't have that, so I'll knot up yet another thread to the WikiPhate known as The NOR Norn, and continue my ravelling there.

Seriously, let's just say that its you in there.

Someone has exposed your real life identity and your entire scam to the media - not to WP:AN/I but to the media. Its been on Slashdot, Digg, Reddit, in the Wikipedia Signpost, and in many internet newspaper reports. Your whole scam is exposed. It leads to over 400 comments on the WikiEN-l mailing list, thousands of comments on Wikipedia, all basically saying the same thing - they know you're guilty. How would you respond?

If it was me, I would have said "Ah well, it was nice while it lasted I may as well come clean, there's no way I can beat this" and that's it. I'm sure that most people would do that. Sure, she had lots of protection, but you know, that was all rotted away with that exposure.

Now, if you were really feeling like an almighty great prick, and just thought "What the heck, let's play a little more" then you might still stick with it.

But then WordBomb finds definite proof that you've done sock puppet abuse, and not only that but Jayjg oversighted it for you. Not only that, but that then ties it in with 18 months worth of discussion about this, which was lacking the definitive proof. Your goose is absolutely cooked, your friends are deserting you, and very few are still willing to stand by you.

There is no way she could still be thinking she could win this one. She knows that there's more coming too, she knows it isn't finished. I mean sure, she can make new identities and so forth, but she knows that she can't get out of it.

Why isn't she running and hiding? Making a new identity? Just disappearing off Wikipedia?

But she still makes this facade that it is all reasonable, pretends that that is her only account, continues on.

I mean I can imagine that she's really just making a smokescreen now, to try to lead to her get away. But some of the greatest liars in history wouldn't have been able to have pulled off this kind of thing. I mean compare it to US Presidential scandals. They had resources, but not this deep.

Its really professional, its far beyond what I thought she was capable of. Its hard not to be impressed.

Just imagine if she was using these powers for good.

There is no way she could still be thinking she could win this one. She knows that there's more coming too, she knows it isn't finished. I mean sure, she can make new identities and so forth, but she knows that she can't get out of it.

I am by no means confident of this; in fact I think it is very unlikely to be the case. It is far more likely that SlimLinda views this just another challenging period that she has every expectation of getting through. Note her calls for people to email her on the ANI that her minions and allies have just managed to shut down. I daresay she has been emailing like mad; calling in favors and making subtle, but definite, threats. To those of whom she is unsure, she is likely demanding loyalty, or at least silence--or else.

Just as I would expect her to. Blissy, just walking away in these circumstances is something a reasonable person might well do. SlimLinda is well past that now. Remember, she has expended a titanic amount of time and effort in acquiring and maintaining her power on WP. People in that position very rarely just walk away. If she is "taken out", it will be kicking and screaming, and doing her level best to drag down as many as possible with her. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I agree with those who suggest that power on WP is as much illusory as it is real, but I doubt that it seems less than real to SlimLinda.

Perhaps. But consider the case of Richard Nixon. In the end, who was convinced by his lies? No one except a few bitter-enders, who resolutely refused to be "confused with the facts", as one congressman infamously put it. The greater part of his own party turned their back on him, feeling angry and betrayed. And did Nixon ever come clean in the 19 years after his resignation? NO.

I would not say at this point that SlimLinda's fate will be that similar to Nixon's (I'm guessing not), but as with Nixon, I doubt she will ever come clean about what she did in the shadows.
