[WikiEN-l] Bans and online/offline reputation (was Re: Follow-up on my Ban from Wikipedia (part 3)) Thomas Dalton thomas.dalton at gmail.com Tue Sep 11 16:07:41 UTC 2007

For the things those people did on Wikipedia, it's a very reliable source. Wikipedia keeps very detailed logs about who does what.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's "Wikipedia" ? From what actual evidence has shown, "Wikipedia" is composed of some people with oversight privileges who don't keep very detailed logs available to the rest of "Wikipedia" on what they whitewash. The reasons for such whitewashing is entirely up to them. Trust them. They're working in your best interest, for the good of the project.
Then's there's the patented "Crum375 Sweep", also known as the "SlimVirgin Bootleg Left". On two. Go. (american football lingo, apologies to beckham fanboys on WR). This power play doesn't require any oversight/arbcom/jedi powers at all. Just the power to be a friendly admin, and the willingness to delete/restore a page's edits. Selectively. Very selectively.
By the way, for those scoring at home, Crum375 is 99.9% likely not SlimVirgin (although they are tied at the watch page hip by batsignal) based on my keen linguistic analysis skilz.

Thomas Dalton is on a roll. QUOTE I've just gone through the list and, personally, I trust the oversighters. I don't think any of them would abuse their power just to help a friend. Even if they did, the other oversighters regularly check the logs and would prevent any abuse (or, at least, they're meant to - I imagine at least some of them do). I presume Thomas is just some kid, completely new to wikipedia. Or just wilfully ignoring acres of much discussed evidence to the contrary. The posters to en-wiki seem to be existing in a completely different universe these days. Every day, someone comes out with a howler. We've had people believing that user pages don't show up in google, that blocked users are just "assholes" who deserve to be humiliated on google etc. Now we have someone who didn't realise that oversighters have pulled all kinds of favours for their buddies, whilst denying basic dignity to everyone else.

BANG! BANG!Maxwell's Silver hammer comes down again. This time upon Thomas Dalton's head, on [WikiEN].. After recently being hammered on these pages for failing to realise that blocked user pages show up in google searches, then coming back to fight the good fight by exposing Fred Bauder in his robe and slippers, GMaxwell sticks it to Thomas Dalton. He returns Dalton's absurd statement that wikipedia is a good source on wikipedia by pointing out Jayjg's oversight skeletons. Where due to Jayjg's meddling cover ups, edits are now appearing in a bizarre timewarp. This is good work by Maxwell, but what he has yet to note is that various Jayjg oversights have resulted in crediting old SV edits - and some of his own - to completely different people. Follow the thread.

I don't think Wikipedia is a reliable source about itself. People always make fake accusations. Admins and oversights hide things that don't want to see. Others just blank conversations they want hidden. I once saw some fool he moved his talk page to another page, blanked it and had it speedy deleted as an unused sandbox page so all his talk records were gone. QUOTE(Jonny Cache @ Tue 11th September 2007, 9:58am) QUOTE(Joseph100 @ Tue 11th September 2007, 12:52pm) Es ist wahr, Hexer, dein Vater war in AutoBahn. SIEG! HIEL! DerHexer (not to be confused with User:DerJimbo -- which is not made so someone should make it!) really has a silly pic. He looks kinda like a girl--not in a gay guy way, but in a girl way. Also he appears to have blush makeup on his cheeks but it could be natural rosy cheeks. I'd think he'd be some friendly little nerd in high school. But online he's this vicious auto-banning AutoBahn. One day Hitler will return!!!!!!!! "Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him alive." - Twilight Zone, episide 'He's Alive' This post has been edited by LamontStormstar: Wed 12th September 2007, 8:03pm
